Preferred physical-mathematical model of the cold energy storage system

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2017
Abstract The aim of this paper is the introduction of a methodology for the development of an optimal physical-mathematical model for a cold energy storage system (CESS) from the viewpoint of the required number of chosen variables. Selection of the design, technical and technological parameters of a CESS is a complex process of selection based on a ...

DIMENSIONLESS PHYSICAL-MATHEMATICAL MODELING OF TURBULENT NATURAL CONVECTION

Revista de Engenharia Térmica, 2021
Natural convection heat transfer is present in the most diverse applications of Thermal Engineering, such as in electronic equipment, transmission lines, cooling coils, biological systems, etc. The correct physical-mathematical modeling of this phenomenon is crucial in the applied understanding of its fundamentals and the design of thermal systems and ...

A physical‐mathematical model for the dispersion process in continuous mixers

Polymer Engineering & Science, 2002
AbstractTo modify the properties of polymers, mineral fillers are frequently added during the compounding process. Because of adhesive forces, these pulverized fillers tend to agglomerate. Therefore, in order to achieve good homogenization, it is essential not only to distribute them but also to break down the solid agglomerates.

A physical–mathematical model of the power circuit of a plasma torch

Welding International, 2013
The article describes the results of development of a physical–mathematical model of a power source–arc system in plasma cutting which takes into account the instability of arcing at low currents (pilot arc), the process of transition of the arc to the working load and the non-stationary characteristics – the shunting mechanism of the DC arc, causing ...

Physical, mathematical and numerical modelling of blood flow in cardiovascular disease

Medical Engineering & Physics, 2005
Editorial article for this edition of Medical Engineering and Physics. Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of death and disability in the world today. It develops over many years as a consequence of complex biophysical interactions between blood and the vessel wall.

Time-evolution of spherical droplets in vapour environment: A physical-mathematical model

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1979
Abstract In the present paper a physical-mathematical model for the process of heat and mass transfer at the interface of a liquid-vapour system is proposed. On the basis of this model and by means of the conservation equations of mass and energy fluxes, the evolution-equations of the state of a single droplet in continuum environment are determined.

Physical-Mathematical Modelling

2018
This chapter presents the continuum hypothesis, that enables that the three fundamental physical conservation laws (mass, momentum and energy) can be representated by mathematical partial differential equations. Basic concepts that differentiate the microscopic molecular and macroscopic continuum scales are discussed for the first time.
