Preclinical Testing of 3D Printed, Cell Loaded Hydrogel Based Corneal Substitutes on Rabbit Model
This study reports on 3D‐printed methacrylated gelatin (GelMA) implants designed to serve as corneal stroma substitutes. The implants are characterized for their transparency, mechanical strength, and cytocompatibility. In vivo tests on rabbits demonstrate successful integration, with histopathological analysis showing tissue regeneration, appropriate ...

Generation of New Neurons in Dorsal Root Ganglia in Adult Rats after Peripheral Nerve Crush Injury
The evidence of neurons generated ex novo in sensory ganglia of adult animals is still debated. In the present study, we investigated, using high resolution light microscopy and stereological analysis, the changes in the number of neurons in dorsal root ganglia after 30 days from a crush lesion of the rat brachial plexus terminal branches.

Dose‐related cardiac outcomes in response to postnatal dexamethasone treatment in premature lambs
Abstract Background Postnatal corticosteroids are used in the critical care of preterm infants for the prevention and treatment of bronchopulmonary dysplasia. We aimed to investigate the effects of early postnatal dexamethasone therapy and dose on cardiac maturation and morphology in preterm lambs.

A new test method based on multipass scratch testing has been developed for evaluating the mechanical and tribological properties of thin, hard coatings. The proposed test method uses a pin‐on‐disc tribometer and during testing a Rockwell C diamond stylus is used as the “pin” and loaded against the rotating coated sample.

Stereological analysis of cornu ammonis in prenatally stressed rats: a heuristic neurodevelopmental model of schizophrenia [PDF]
Objective(s):The hippocampus has been implicated in pathophysiology of schizophrenia. Prenatal stress is a contributing risk factor for a wide variety of neuropsychiatric diseases including schizophrenia. This study examined long-term effects of prenatal

The Complexly Parcellated, Yet Quantitatively Reduced, Orexinergic/Hypocretinergic System of Humans
Immunohistochemical staining for orexin‐A reveals the novel parvocellular orexinergic neuronal cluster (left) in the human brain. In comparison to the more typically observed orexinergic neurons of the main cluster (right), the parvocellular neurons have much smaller soma. Scale bar = 100 µm, applies to both images.

Sampling for stereology in lungs
The present article reviews the relevant stereological estimators for obtaining reliable quantitative structural data from the lungs. Stereological sampling achieves reliable, quantitative information either about the whole lung or complete lobes, whilst

Previous studies have been shown that electromagnetic fields (EMF) result in increasing the rate of nerve regeneration. Therefore it could be assumed following axotomy the signal induction of these fields may protect neural cells from death.
