A Product Oriented Modelling Concept: Holons for systems synchronisation and interoperability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Nowadays, enterprises are confronted to growing needs for traceability, product genealogy and product life cycle management. To meet those needs, the enterprise and applications in the enterprise environment have to manage flows of information that ...

Advanced physical modeling of SiOx resistive random access memories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We apply a three-dimensional (3D) physical simulator, coupling self-consistently stochastic kinetic Monte Carlo descriptions of ion and electron transport, to investigate switching in silicon-rich silica (SiOx) redox-based resistive random-access memory (

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Physical parameters of 62 eclipsing binary stars using the ASAS-3 data$-$I

open access: yes, 2010
We present a detailed light curve analysis of publicly available V band observations of 62 binary stars, mostly contact binaries, obtained by the All Sky Automated Survey (ASAS)-3 project between 2000 and 2009.

A Conservative Finite Difference Scheme for Poisson-Nernst-Planck Equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A macroscopic model to describe the dynamics of ion transport in ion channels is the Poisson-Nernst-Planck(PNP) equations. In this paper, we develop a finite-difference method for solving PNP equations, which is second-order accurate in both space and ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Unbiased Least-Squares Modelling

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
In this paper we analyze the bias in a general linear least-squares parameter estimation problem, when it is caused by deterministic variables that have not been included in the model.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Physical/electromagnetic pHEMT modeling

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2003
An effective technique, which is based only on geometrical and physical data, is presented for the analysis of high-frequency FETs. The intrinsic part of this electron device is described by a quasi-two-dimensional hydrodynamic transport model, coupled to a numerical electromagnetic field time domain solver in three dimensions that analyzes the passive
