Towards Ontology Evolution in Physics [PDF]
We investigate the problem of automatically repairing inconsistent ontologies. A repair is triggered when a contradiction is detected between the current theory and new experimental evidence. We are working in the domain of physics because it has good historical records of such contradictions and how they were resolved.

THE MACHINE IN THE GHOST: TRANSHUMANISM AND THE ONTOLOGY OF INFORMATION
An ontology of information belies our common intuitions about reality today and animates and governs both explicit scholarly study in philosophy and the sciences as well as the ideologies that are growing out of them.

A Realistic and Non Reductionist Strategyb with respect to Properties
Is it possible and necessary to admit of non-physical properties? A minimal ontology accepts only the reality of physical properties. It is based on a restrictive existential criterion, namely the causal criterion.

“OPTImAL”: an ontology for patient adherence modeling in physical activity domain
Background Maintaining physical fitness is a crucial component of the therapeutic process for patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD). Despite the known importance of being physically active, patient adherence to exercise, both in daily life and ...

On the ontological ambiguity of physics facing reality
AbstractWe discuss in this work, the contradictory position in modern Physics between the existence of a microphysical quantum reality and macrophysical classical one. After discussing some basic concepts in Philosophy, we revisit the situation of Quantum Mechanics results, particularly after the confirmation of violations of Bell's theorem, and its ...

An Ontology-Based Approach to Aid STPA Analysis
The safety-critical systems we are building today employ software, use physical and cybernetic components, and have more interactions (including hierarchical controllers). Systems-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) is a hazard analysis method that is used
