We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

The Biological/Physical Sciences Divide, and the Age of Unreason
D’Arcy Thompson in On Growth and Form tells us that the early founders of the cell theory of biology, and the physiologists believed that progress in their sciences depended critically on our knowledge of molecular forces.

Ropelength of tight polygonal knots
A physical interpretation of the rope simulated by the SONO algorithm is presented. Properties of the tight polygonal knots delivered by the algorithm are analyzed. An algorithm for bounding the ropelength of a smooth inscribed knot is shown. Two ways of

THE ROLE OF PHYSICAL EXPERIMENTS IN POPULARIZATION OF EXACT SCIENCES
Physical experiments play crucial role in exact sciences. We test our theories which we try give account of the world by experiments. On the one hand, themselves are an inexorable judge which one judge our conceptions about function of the world and on ...

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...
