Testosterone Replacement, Muscle Strength, and Physical Function
Muscle strength and physical function decrease in older men, as do testosterone levels. Nonetheless, the effects of testosterone replacement therapy on muscle strength and physical function remain inconclusive and equivocal. We conducted a rapid systematic review, the results of which showed that testosterone replacement does not affect muscle strength

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Nuclear shape dependence of Gamow-Teller distributions in neutron-deficient Pb isotopes [PDF]
We study Gamow-Teller strength distributions in the neutron-deficient even isotopes (184-194)Pb in a search for signatures of deformation. The microscopic formalism used is based on a deformed quasiparticle random phase approximation (QRPA) approach ...

Character strengths in sport and physical activity [PDF]
Positive psychological science has established that fostering strengths (e.g. courage, optimism and perseverance) has the potential to buffer against mental illness whilst also actualizing optimal human functioning. In this chapter character strengths are introduced and explored in the contexts of sport and physical activity.
