Effects of Weed Control and Fertilization on Wood and Chemi-mechanical Pulp Properties of a Populus deltoides Clone

open access: yesBioResources, 2013
Weed control and fertilization usually lead to an increase in the growth rate of trees and, consequently, to a possible modification of the quality of the wood and its end products.

Physical weed control in protected leaf-beet in central Italy

open access: yesRenewable Agriculture and Food Systems, 2010
AbstractLeaf-beet is a typical and very important protected cultivation crop in central Italy. In leaf-beet protected cultivation, weed control is one of the most important problems because of its fairly long crop cycle (approximately 4–5 months). The aim of this research was to set up an efficient non chemical weed control strategy performed with ...

Weed Control Increases the Growth and Above-Ground Biomass Production of Pinus taeda Plantations in Southern Brazil

open access: yesAgrochemicals
Pinus taeda plantations have been facing declining productivity in South America, especially due to competition for natural resources such as light, water, and nutrients.

Weed management strategies in Soybean (Glycine max) — A review

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2022
Soybean (Glycine max L.) being a rainy season crop, faces severe infestation of kharif weeds. Since the crop suppresses weeds due to its dense canopy at later stages of growth, the control of weeds has received very little attention.

The Landscape of Long Non‐Coding RNAs Provides Insights Into the Domestication and Improvement of Pear Fruit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that long non‐coding RNAs represent important regulatory components underlying pear domestication and improvement. Integrative multi‐omics analyses identify selected lncRNAs associated with fruit traits, while functional validation uncovers a lignin‐related lncRNA, lncRNA‐pys, that promotes lignin accumulation.

The influence of non-living mulch, mechanical and thermal treatments on weed population and yield of rainfed fresh-market tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.)

open access: yesSpanish Journal of Agricultural Research, 2013
Weed control is often a major limitation for vegetable crops, since compared to arable crops fewer herbicides are available and the crops are more sensitive to weeds. Field experiments were carried out in the province of Pisa (Central Italy) to determine

Weed control with saturated steam in organic highbush blueberry

open access: yesFrontiers in Agronomy, 2023
Weed management is often a predominant and costly problem in the production of organic blueberries. Geotextile weed fabrics of woven polyethylene are widely used in organic blueberry fields to suppress weeds growing within the rows.

Using stochastic dynamic programming to support weed management decisions over a rotation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This study describes a model that predicts the impact of weed management on the population dynamics of arable weeds over a rotation and presents the economic consequences.

Atmospheric Water Harvesting Through Polymer Hydrogel Sorbents: Materials Chemistry, Design Strategies, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Polymer‐based hydrogels have emerged as promising materials for atmospheric water harvesting (AWH) due to their high water affinity, tunable network structure, and excellent moisture adsorption‐desorption performance. Functional hydrogel systems enable efficient water capture and controlled release under low‐energy conditions, offering a sustainable ...
