The Impact of Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome Burden on Pain, Neuropathy Severity and Fiber Type

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Determine the association between diabetes and metabolic syndrome (MetS) burden (number of MetS criteria fulfilled) and pain, neuropathy severity, and fiber type involvement in individuals with established polyneuropathy. Methods The Peripheral Neuropathy Research Registry was queried for individuals with type 1 and type 2 diabetes ...

Serotonergic and Dopaminergic Function in Neuropsychiatrically Asymptomatic People With HIV on Antiretroviral Therapy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective People with HIV (PWH) on antiretroviral therapy (ART) still experience neurocognitive dysfunction and accelerated brain volume loss. To assess whether the serotonergic and dopaminergic systems are affected, we used [11C]DASB positron emission tomography (PET) to assess presynaptic serotonergic function and [18F]FDOPA PET to measure ...

EEG Response to Sedation Interruption Complements Behavioral Assessment After Severe Brain Injury

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Accurate assessment of the level of consciousness and potential to recover in patients with severe brain injury underpins crucial decisions in the intensive care unit but remains a major challenge for the clinical team. The neurological wake‐up test is a widely used assessment tool. However, many patients' behavioral responses during

Pulse Pressure, White Matter Hyperintensities, and Cognition: Mediating Effects Across the Adult Lifespan

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To investigate whether pulse pressure or mean arterial pressure mediates the relationship between age and white matter hyperintensity load and to examine the mediating effect of white matter hyperintensities on cognition. Methods Demographic information, blood pressure, current medication lists, and Montreal Cognitive Assessment ...

Applied Mathematics, Physics [PDF]

open access: possible, 1972
A grid refinement technique for high resolution magnetohydrodynamical flows is described. It is based on the use of multiple nested grids having successively higher resolution. The numerical algorithm is formulated in such a way that the advection part of the hydrodynamical equations are solved in conservative form on the whole integration domain.

Quaternions Applied to Physics

1995
If Hamilton’s intention had been to apply quaternions to physics, he was stymied by the fact that physical space has only three dimensions.
