Carbon Nanoarch Encapsulating Fe Nanowire on Ni (111) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We investigate the stable structures of Fe-filled single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) on Ni(111), using density functional theory calculations. We find stable geometries and electronic states for the nanotube on Ni(111).

Intraoperative Collection of Ascitic Fluid With Intra‐ or Postoperative Reinfusion in Ovarian Cancer: Safety and Feasibility of a Roller Pumping Method

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients with ovarian cancer often present with massive ascites, leading to significant protein loss during surgical procedures. Although cell‐free concentrated ascites reinfusion therapy (CART) is used in palliative settings to mitigate protein loss, its application in intraoperative settings remains unexplored.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

APPLICATION OF TESSELLATION TECHNIQUES IN THE STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF MD-SIMULATED MATERIALS

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 1997
A new tessellation technique is applied to the structural analysis of the MD-simulated materials. The main point of the method is a suitable manipulation of the contracted simplices network.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

STRUCTURAL MODELLING OF AMORPHOUS VANADIUM PENTOXIDE

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 1997
Amorphous vanadium pentoxide (a -V2O5) is a component o f many technically important semiconducting glasses. The transport properties are related directly to the material structure, and so in order to understand the transport mechanism the atom ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

MONTE CARLO SIMULATION OF DISPERSIVE CARRIER TRANSPORT IN DISORDERED SOLIDS IN THE PRESENCE OF SPACE CHARGE EFFECTS

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 1998
A Monte Carlo (MC) method of simulation of the multiple-trapping (MT) carrier transport in disordered solids, taking into account the space charge effects, is presented.
