Room‐Temperature Skyrmionic Synapse in 2D Ferromagnet Fe3GaTe2 Operating via Collective Spin Texture Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a neuromorphic synapse in 2D Fe3GaTe2 flakes. The device operates via a current‐driven transformation from a skyrmion‐lattice to a stripe‐domain state, yielding a linear anomalous Hall resistance response with a tunable slope to enable multiply‐accumulate operations. Simulations confirm its viability in artificial neural networks.

Turbulent Gas-rich Disks at High Redshift: Bars and Bulges in a Radial Shear Flow

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Recent observations of high-redshift galaxies ( z ≲ 7) reveal that a substantial fraction have turbulent, gas-rich disks with well-ordered rotation and elevated levels of star formation.

When Poor Exciton Dissociation Limits Photocurrents in Organic Solar Cells: Why Low Offset Non‐Fullerene Acceptor Blends Can't Be Efficient

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The energetic offset between the donor and the acceptor components in organic photoactive layers is central to the tradeoff between photovoltage and photocurrent losses. This Perspective covers the most important issues surrounding this topic in non‐fullerene acceptor blends, from the difficulty of accurately determining state energies and driving ...

The origin of the elements and other implications of gravitational wave detection for nuclear physics

open access: yes4 open, 2020
The neutron-star collision revealed by the event GW170817 gave us a first glimpse of a possible birthplace of most of our heavy elements. The multi-messenger nature of this historical event combined gravitational waves, a gamma-ray burst and optical ...

Measuring the Hall Effect in Hysteretic Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The authors highlight common pitfalls in measuring the Hall effect: in hysteretic magnets, improper data processing can create signals that look exotic but are not real. This Perspective explains the origin of these artifacts and presents practical measurement strategies that help researchers identify reliable Hall responses in complex magnetic ...

Gravitational lensing reveals cool gas within 10-20 kpc around a quiescent galaxy

open access: yesCommunications Physics
While quiescent galaxies have comparable amounts of cool gas in their outer circumgalactic medium (CGM) compared to star-forming galaxies, they have significantly less interstellar gas.

Weak In‐Plane Ferromagnetism and Electronic Nematicity in the Distorted Triple‐Q Magnetic Phase of Co1/3TaS2

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Co1/3TaS2${\rm Co}_{1/3}{\rm TaS}_{2}$ hosts a triple‐Q noncoplanar antiferromagnetic state with coexisting Z3${\rm Z}_3$ electronic nematicity. We report rotational hysteresis observed in both magnetoresistance and magnetic torque, revealing strongly pinned in‐plane weak ferromagnetic moments in the triple‐Q phase and the magnetism‐driven nature of ...

Physics at the University of Lviv since the 17th century until the second world war: Addenda to the bibliography [PDF]

open access: yesStudia Historiae Scientiarum, 2016
Previously, an attempt was made to compile in a series of papers a complete bibliography of works related to physics at the University of Lviv. The period since the foundation of the University in 1661 until the division of the Chair of Physics in 1872 ...

ENSINO DE ASTRONOMIA NO BRASIL - 1850 A 1951 - UM OLHAR PELO COLÉGIO PEDRO II

open access: yesEnsaio Pesquisa em Educação em Ciências, 2010
The teaching of Astronomy in Brazil is analyzed in the 18 programs of the Pedro II School, relative to the 1841 to 1951 reforms, based on the understanding that the curriculum is the result of a process made up of conflicts and disputes between different
