Molecular phylogenetics of central Canadian Physidae (Pulmonata: Basommatophora)
Canadian Journal of Zoology, 2008The phylogenetic relationships of four nominal south-central Canadian freshwater physids ( Physa (sensu lato) skinneri Taylor, 1954, Physa integra (Haldeman, 1841), Physa gyrina (Say, 1821), and the endemic Physa winnipegensis Pip, 2004) were studied by analyses of combined partial sequences coding for mitochondrial 16S and cytochrome c oxidase (COI ...

Multiple unfolding states of glutathione transferase from Physa acuta (Gastropada: Physidae)
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2006The equilibrium unfolding of the major Physa acuta glutathione transferase isoenzyme (P. acuta GST(3)) has been performed using guanidinium chloride (GdmCl), urea, and acid denaturation to investigate the unfolding intermediates. Protein transitions were monitored by intrinsic fluorescence. The results indicate that unfolding of P.

Expansion of an invasive freshwater snail Physa acuta (Gastropoda: Physidae) in China
Molluscan Research, 2009The pulmonate freshwater snail Physa acuta Draparnaud, 1805 has been previously reported as an invasive species in China and many other parts of the world. Populations in Beijing and Shandong, Shanxi, Yunnan and Hubei Provinces are reported for the first time based on collections made between August and October 2007. The potential for further spread of

African Zoology, 2008
Physa marmorata, originally described from the Lesser Antilles, was introduced into Africa before 1900 and has previously been reported from Bénin, Togo, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa. Here we show that it is also common in temporary ponds, fish ponds, dams and streams in the La Mé and Agnéby basins, southern Ivory Coast.
