Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Dormancy in reproductive vegetative buds in creeping perennials dominating the agricultural weed flora in Scandinavia [PDF]
Dormancy, which is the inability to initiate normal growth under otherwise favourable conditions, is an adaptation to escape sprouting prior to seasonal cold temperatures and/or drought in areas where winters are harsh or summers dry.

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Carbon disulphide promotes sprouting of potato minitubers [PDF]
We investigated the effects of postharvest application of carbon disulphide (CS2) in various concentrations (0, 15, 25, 35, 45 and 55 ml m-3) and with different exposure duration (24, 48, 72 and 96 h) on breaking of dormancy and sprouting of potato ...

Fire‐released seed dormancy ‐ a global synthesis
Seed dormancy varies greatly between species, clades, communities, and regions. We propose that fireprone ecosystems create ideal conditions for the selection of seed dormancy as fire provides a mechanism for dormancy release and postfire conditions are ...

Seed physiology and response to germination conditions [PDF]
This chapter brings together knowledge of the germination and storage behaviour of quinoa seeds in relation to three general aspects: germination response to different factors and in situations of stress; tolerance to pre-harvest sprouting and dormancy ...
