Adrenomedullin: Is There Physiological Relevance in the Pathology and Pharmacology?

open access: yes, 1999
The adrenomedullin gene encodes two potent hypotensive peptides, adrenomedullin and proadrenomedullin NH2-terminal 20 peptide. As with other vasoactive peptides, the most difficult challenge is to prove the physiological relevance of their recognized ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Adequação do teste de condutividade elétrica para sementes de Pisum sativum subsp. Arvense Suitability of electrical conductivity test for seeds of Pisum sativum subsp. Arvense

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Sleep and Neurodegeneration: Examining Potential Physiological Mechanisms

open access: yesCurrent Sleep Medicine Reports
The purpose of this review is to provide an overview of potential mechanisms mediating the bi-directional relationship between sleep and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. We provide updates on previously proposed mechanisms and identify new mechanisms particularly concerning how sleep disturbances affect memory-related neural ...

Physiology and Potential Application of NKT Cells: A Minireview

open access: yesThe Chinese Journal of Physiology, 2009
CD1d-restricted T (NKT) cells are potent regulators of autoimmunity, tumor immunity, and transplantation-related immunity. NKT cells are a subset of innate lymphocytes that recognize endogenous or exogenous glycolipids in the context of CD1d molecules.
