Hierarchical Multi‐Material Architectures With Gradient Design for Dynamic‐Range Flexible Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hierarchical multi‐material TPMS lattices are engineered as flexible tactile sensors by combining soft and stiff elastomeric layers with a conformal conductive coating. The bilayer architecture delivers sensitivity at low pressures while maintaining a broad detectable range under large loads, enabling reliable pressure and vibration monitoring for ...

Agar‐Based Optical Sensing System With a Phosphorescent Grid Pattern for Measuring Stress Distributions of Root Growth Using the Sampling Moiré Method

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This paper presents an agar medium with a phosphorescent grid pattern that measures the stress distribution generated by growing plant roots. Using phosphorescence, the system optically separates the grid pattern from the root and extracts the grid deformation.

Individual patterns and synchrony of heart rate variability in adolescent patients with borderline personality psychopathology and their mothers: a case–control study

open access: yesBorderline Personality Disorder and Emotion Dysregulation
Background In adolescent Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), interactions with caregivers often provoke dysregulation. Vagally-mediated heart rate variability (HRV), a physiological marker of regulatory capacities, shows alterations in BPD. Studies on

Narrative predicts cardiac synchrony in audiences

open access: yesScientific Reports
Audio-visual media possesses a remarkable ability to synchronise audiences’ neural, behavioural, and physiological responses. This synchronisation is considered to reflect some dimension of collective attention or engagement with the stimulus.

A small study evaluating cortisol production of undocumented immigrant Latino parents and their US-born adolescents

open access: yesHealth Behavior Research
While cortisol production has been studied in parent-child dyads, research has not specifically examined cortisol production of US-born adolescents and their undocumented immigrant Latino parents, despite the elevated stress associated with mixed status.
