Mapping physiological traits in barley

New Phytologist, 1997
summaryAmplified fragment length polymorphisms (AFLPs) offer a reproducible, multiplex DNA assay by which to genotype mapping populations. We have evaluated physiological traits in barley seedlings grown in an hydroponic system and given a salt treatment. Multiple regression was used to show associations between AFLPs and quantitative traits.

Popular Physiological Trait Based Biometric Authentication Systems

ECS Transactions, 2022
Biometric systems are mostly preferred by different fields because of their higher security features. In past, passwords were used to identify and validate the genuine users. However, it was not preferred because these can be easily accessed by the third party. Hence, consequently it increases the frequency of fraudulent and breach incidents.

Reflex seizures, traits, and epilepsies: from physiology to pathology

The Lancet Neurology, 2016
Epileptic seizures are generally unpredictable and arise spontaneously. Patients often report non-specific triggers such as stress or sleep deprivation, but only rarely do seizures occur as a reflex event, in which they are objectively and consistently modulated, precipitated, or inhibited by external sensory stimuli or specific cognitive processes ...

Gene Expression and Physiological traits in Mice

2023
AbstractBackgroundGene expression regulates several complex traits observed. In this study, datasets comprising of transcriptome information and clinical traits regarding fat composition and vitals were analyzed via several statistical methods in order to find relations between genes and clinical outcomes.ResultsBiological big data is diverse and ...

Physiological Traits Associated with Grazing‐Tolerant Alfalfa

Agronomy Journal, 1992
AbstractMany alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) cultivars do not persist under long‐term, continuous grazing. This study was conducted to examine the variation of physiological traits that may contribute to grazing tolerance. Plants of the grazing‐tolerant cultivars Alfagraze and Travois and the grazing‐intolerant cultivar Florida 77 were grown from seed ...

Physiological Responses of Sickle Cell Trait Carriers during Exercise

Sports Medicine, 2008
Growing evidence suggests that physiological responses during exercise in sickle cell trait (SCT) carriers might differ from persons with normal haemoglobin. Epidemiological and experimental results support the view that SCT carriers could be advantaged in certain anaerobic activities, but the underlying physiological and bio-cellular mechanisms remain

Critical physiological traits in pulse crops

1988
On one view, a search for critical physiological traits merely needs to consider those factors that may determine the production of assimilate by the leaves; yield is then regarded as the product of the leaves’ activities. The alternative view is that yield is not an amorphous ‘sink’ but a structured population of ovules.

Beyond Our Means: Patterns of Variability of Physiological Traits

International Journal of Health Services, 1990
Epidemiologists usually employ measures of variability of physiological traits such as blood pressure and cholesterol only to determine confidence intervals or statistical significance. For evolutionary biologists population variability per se has proven of interest.

Genetic Analysis of Morpho‐Physiological Traits in Chickpea

Plant Breeding, 1988
AbstractThe present study was conducted to investigate the genetic inheritance of morpho‐physiological leaf traits in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.). The experimental material comprised six generations, viz., two inbred parents, ‘T88’ and ‘Bold Seeded’, having contrasting leaf traits, and their derived F1, F2 and backcross of F1 to either parent (B1 and
