Negative Evidence of Wolbachia in the Predaceous Mite Phytoseiulus persimilis

Experimental and Applied Acarology, 2005
The cytoplasmically inherited bacterium Wolbachia is widespread in arthropod species and has been repeatedly detected in the predaceous mite Phytoseiulus persimilis. Our original goal was to assess the prevalence of Wolbachia infection in P. persimilis and the potential fitness consequences for this host. To accomplish that goal, seven P.

Analysis of methidathion resistance mechanisms in Phytoseiulus persimilis A.H

Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology, 1987
Abstract A resistant strain of Phytoseiulus persimilis selected by methidathion pressure for several years metabolizes the [ 14 C]methidathion faster than does the corresponding susceptible strain. The metabolism is for the main part glutathione dependent and gives the methidathion conjugate on glutathione as a first metabolite: S [5-methoxy-2-oxo-

Some common and different features in the intestinal enzymatic system functions were found in two species under study. Carbohydrases in both species have the same hydrogen-ion concentration optima that coincide with pH optima of similar enzymes of the prey and are close to the intestinal pH value.

Distribuzione meccanica di Phytoseiulus Persimilis in serra

2006

2023
Morpho-functional changes in the alimentary canal epithelium and the process of food digestion are studied in mites. The changes in the epithelial cells of the midgut are shown to come very rapidly. Each 10-15 min. digestive cells degenerate. They are replaced by non-differentiated cells.

2023
The structure of the digestive and- excretory systems in Phytoseiulus persimilis is described. It is established that the digestive system in Ph. persimilis is similar on the whole to the digestive system of other gamasid mites, though there are also some morphofunctional differences (no folding in the intestine and diverticula, etc.).

Phenomenon of Rickettsiella phytoseiuli in Phytoseiulus persimilis mite.

Acta microbiologica et immunologica Hungarica, 1995
An unknown microorganism occurring in a predaceous mite Phytoseiulus persimilis was described by the author in 1977 as a new species Rickettsiella phytoseiuli. Some new results on the relation between this agent and its hosts are presented in this paper.
