A Prospective Study of Individuals at Risk of Multiple Sclerosis Informs the Design of Primary Prevention Studies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In multiple sclerosis, the optimal time for deploying a therapeutic intervention is before the central nervous system is damaged; given the success of trials treating the earliest stage of MS, the radiologically isolated syndrome, developing primary prevention strategies is an important next challenge.

The K(Pi, 1)-conjecture for the affine braid groups

2003
The authors prove that the complement of the hyperplane arrangement associated to the complexified action of a Euclidean reflection group of type \(\widetilde A_n\) is a \(K(\pi,1)\) space. This is done using the fact that the associated affine braid group \(\widetilde{\mathcal A}\) can be embedded in a finite type Artin braid group.
