As we are discussing the solution to a problem of biostatistical inference it is best to begin by defining the problem. The problem of disputed paternity can be reduced to the following question: Is this man the father of this child, or not?

PI Index of Mesh Structured Chemicals
2011The PI index of a graph G is defined as PI(G) = Σ[η eu(e|G) + η ev(e|G), where for the edge e = (u,v), η eu(e|G) is the number of edges of G lying closer to u than v; η ev(e|G) is the number of edges of G lying closer to v than u and summation goes over all edges of G.

The ponderal index (PI) is height divided by cube root of weight. The lower the PI, the more obese the individual. This index is a better indicator of obesity than height and weight alone. If the PI is less than 11, there is increased operative risk compared with patients having a larger PI.

Use of the PI Index in Predicting Toxicity of Nitrobenzene Derivatives
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2002The PI Index is a Szeged-like topological index developed very recently. It has useful applications in chemistry which are yet to be investigated thoroughly. Herein, we report quantitative structure-toxicity relationship (QSTR) study using the PI Index. We have used 41 monosubstituted nitrobenzene for this purpose.

Comparison of the Periodontal Index (PI) and Community Periodontal Index of Treatment Needs (CPITN)
Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology, 1986Abstract 692 dental adults in the age ranges, 15‐19, 20‐29, and 35‐44 yr, were assessed for their periodontal conditions and treatment needs using the Periodontal Index (PI) and Community Periodontal Index of Treatment Needs (CPITN). The relative advantages and disadvantages of the two indices were evaluated as epidemiological screening procedures. The

A Novel PI Index and Its Applications to QSPR/QSAR Studies
Journal of Chemical Information and Computer Sciences, 2001A novel topological index, PI (Padmakar-Ivan index), is derived in this paper. The index is very simple to calculate and has disseminating power similar to that of the Wiener (W) and the Szeged (Sz) indices. The comprehensive studies show that the proposed PI index correlates highly with W and Sz as well as with physicochemical properties and ...

An upper bound for the index of multiplicities in the cocharacters of PI-algebras
Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2007Let \(F\langle X\rangle\) denote a free associative algebra over a field \(F\) of characteristic zero and \(\text{Var}(A)\) denote the variety of all associative algebras over \(F\) satisfying all polynomial identities of the \(F\)-algebra \(A\). Main information on the identities is contained in the multilinear component \(P_n(A)=P_n/(P_n\cap\text{Id}(

Szeged and vertex PI index of graphs over modules
Summary: If we have a commutative ring \(R\) and it is identified as \(1\neq 0\) there is an \(R\)-module \(M\), \(G_R(M)\) will denote the Scalar product graph of \(M\). Vertices of \(G_R(M)\) are elements of \(M\), and \(a\), \(b\) in \(M\) are adjoining if \(a = rb\) or \(b = ra\) for some \(r\in R\).Nouri Jouybari, Mostafa +1 more

Computing Vertex PI Index of Tetrathiafulvalene Dendrimers
2010General formulas are obtained for the vertex Padmakar-Ivan index (PIv) of tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) dendrimer, whereby TTF units we are employed as branching centers. The PIv index is a Wiener-Szeged-like index developed very recently. This topological index is defined as the summation of all sums of nu(e) and nv(e), over all edges of connected graph G.
