New π-arene ruthenium(II) piano-stool complexes with nitrogen ligands

open access: yesJournal of Inorganic Biochemistry, 2012
The synthesis, characterization, DNA interaction and antiproliferative behavior of new π-arene ruthenium(II) piano-stool complexes with nitrogen ligands are described. Three series of organometallic compounds of formulae [RuCl(2)(η(6)-p-cym)L] were synthesized (with L=2-, 3- or 4-methylpyridine; L=2,3-, 2,4-, 2,5-, 3,4-, 3,5-dimethylpyridine and L=1,2-,

Crystal structure of chlorido(2-{1-[2-(4-chlorophenyl)hydrazin-1-ylidene-κN]ethyl}pyridine-κN)(η5-pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)rhodium(III) chloride

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2015
The cation of the title compound, [Rh(η5-C5Me5)Cl(C13H12ClN3)]Cl, adopts a typical piano-stool geometry. The complex is chiral at the metal and crystallizes as a racemate.

[1,4-Bis(diphenylphosphanyl)butane-κ2P,P′]chlorido(η5-indenyl)ruthenium(II)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2011
Facile ligand substitution is observed when the ruthenium chloride complex [Ru(η5-C9H7)Cl(PPh3)2] is treated with 1,4-bis(diphenylphosphanyl)butane in refluxing toluene yielding the title compound, [Ru(C9H7)Cl(C28H28P2)].

A New Photoactivatable Ruthenium(II) Complex with an Asymmetric Bis-Thiocarbohydrazone: Chemical and Biological Investigations

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
The synthesis, photoactivation and biological activity of a new piano-stool Ru(II) complex is herein reported. The peculiarity of this complex is that its monodentate ligand which undergoes the photodissociation is an asymmetric bis-thiocarbohydrazone ...

Pure Molecular Inorganic Rings: Mixed Group 14/15 Metallacycles

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 4, 22 January 2026.
The synthesis and characterization of novel mixed group 14/15 metallacycles incorporating a transition‐metal is described. All of the presented compounds were obtained by reduction of an organometallic Mo2E2 tetrahedrane using Si(I) and Ge(I) compounds, respectively.

Dichlorido(η6-p-cymene)(4-fluoroaniline-κN)ruthenium(II)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2011
The title compound, [RuCl2(C10H14)(C6H6FN)], a pseudo-octahedral d6 complex, has the expected piano-stool geometry around the Ru(II) atom. The fluoroaniline ring forms a dihedral angle of 19.3 (2)° with the p-cymene ring.

Piano-stool N-heterocyclic carbene iron complexes: Synthesis, reactivity and catalytic applications [PDF]

open access: yesCoordination Chemistry Reviews, 2017
Abstract This review summarises the advances of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) as ligands to iron half-sandwich complexes, often referred to as piano-stool complexes because of their structural motif. The review introduces various synthetic routes towards this sub-class of NHC iron-complexes including in particular direct and transmetallation ...
