An equivalence between the convergences of Ishikawa, Mann and Picard iterations
We will show that the convergence of Picard iteration is equivalent to the convergence of Mann and Ishikawa iterations, when the operator is a contraction and aymptotic ...

Abstract We address the scheduling conflicting jobs on parallel identical machines problem with makespan minimization, a classical and computationally challenging variant of parallel machine scheduling. We develop and evaluate three distinct solution methodologies: a novel constraint programming (CP) formulation, and two metaheuristics: a multi ...

Phylogenomics of the American robin (Turdus migratorius) reveals hidden lineages and introgression
Phylogenomic analyses of Turdus migratorius uncover four previously unrecognized lineages, including a divergent Baja California lineage (T. m. confinis). The results reveal complex evolutionary relationships that depart from simple models of continuous divergence, supported by evidence of introgression between the Mexican lineage and its previously ...

Power bounded prolongations and Picard-Lindelf iteration
The author continues several earlier studies of Picard-Lindelöf iteration of linear constant coefficient systems \(\dot x+Ax=f(t),\) \(x(0)=x_ 0\), where the matrix A is assumed to be split as \(A=M-N\) for iteration \(\dot x^ n+Mx^ n=Nx^{n-1}+f(t),\) \(x^ n(0)=x_ 0\) [see e.g. the author, ibid. 57, No.2, 147-156 (1990; Zbl 0697.65058)].

Stable Iteration Procedures in Metric Spaces which Generalize a Picard-Type Iteration [PDF]
AbstractThis paper investigates the stability of iteration procedures defined by continuous functions acting on self-maps in continuous metric spaces. Some of the obtained results extend the contraction principle to the use of altering-distance functions and extended altering-distance functions, the last ones being piecewise continuous.

Population genetic structure in the Pacific Northwest for (a–c) Nereocystis and (d–f) Macrocystis. Summary Pockets of the formerly glaciated Pacific coastline of North America likely remained ice‐free throughout the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). These areas may have served as refugia for terrestrial species, but less is known about their role in the ...

Error Analysis for Picard-Chebyshev Iterations
In this paper an iterative technique for solving initial value problems is presented. The technique is based on Picard iterations and the Chebyshev polynomials and has been referred to by this author as the Picard-Chebyshev iteration method for initial ...

Time complexity and convergence analysis of domain theoretic Picard method [PDF]
We present an implementation of the domain-theoretic Picard method for solving initial value problems (IVPs) introduced by Edalat and Pattinson [1]. Compared to Edalat and Pattinson's implementation, our algorithm uses a more efficient arithmetic based ...

Invariant Measure and Universality of the 2D Yang–Mills Langevin Dynamic
ABSTRACT We prove that the Yang–Mills (YM) measure for the trivial principal bundle over the two‐dimensional torus, with any connected, compact structure group, is invariant for the associated renormalised Langevin dynamic. Our argument relies on a combination of regularity structures, lattice gauge‐fixing and Bourgain's method for invariant measures ...

Neural and Navigational Features Influencing the Novelty Induced Benefits on Episodic Memory
ABSTRACT Studies in animals have robustly shown that exposure to novelty can promote memory for information presented in the temporal vicinity. In humans, however, evidence for such novelty‐related memory benefits has been mixed. In this EEG study, we investigated the neurobiological mechanisms underlying effects of novelty on memory and whether ...
