A Picone identity for variable exponent operators and applications [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis, 2019
Abstract In this work, we establish a new Picone identity for anisotropic quasilinear operators, such as the p(x)-Laplacian defined as div(|∇ u| p(x)−2 ∇ u). Our extension provides a new version of the Diaz-Saa inequality and new uniqueness results to some quasilinear elliptic equations with variable exponents.

Anisotropic Picone identities and anisotropic Hardy inequalities [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2017
In this paper, we derive an anisotropic Picone identity for the anisotropic Laplacian, which contains some known Picone identities. As applications, a Sturmian comparison principle to the anisotropic elliptic equation and an anisotropic Hardy type inequality are shown.

open access: yesMathematical Inequalities & Applications, 2021
Summary: In this paper, we present a Picone identity for the \(p(x)\)-Laplace equations and establish some applications of this formula, such as Caccioppoli inequalities, nonexistence of positive supersolutions, domain monotonicity property, uniqueness and simplicity of the first eigenvalue, Hardy type inequality, Barta-type inequality, a nonlinear ...

A new variable exponent Picone identity and applictions [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Inequalities & Applications, 2019
Summary: In this paper, we derive a new variable exponent Picone identity for \(p(x)\)-Laplacian, which contains some known Picone identities. As applications, a strict monotonicity of principal eigenvalues with respect to domains for the eigenvalue problems to \(p(x)\)-Laplace equation, a variable exponent Barta type inequality, a variable exponent ...

The Picone identity for a class of partial differential equations [PDF]

open access: yesMathematica Bohemica, 2002
Summary: The Picone-type identity for the half-linear second order partial differential equation \[ \sum _{i=1}^n\frac {\partial }{\partial x_i} \Phi \bigg (\frac {\partial u}{\partial x_i}\bigg )+c(x)\Phi (u)=0,\quad \Phi (u):=| u| ^{p-2}u,\;p>1, \] is established and some applications of this identity are suggested.

The Picone identity: A device to get optimal uniqueness results and global dynamics in Population Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis: Real World Applications, 2021
This paper infers from a generalized Picone identity the uniqueness of the stable positive solution for a class of semilinear equations of superlinear indefinite type, as well as the uniqueness and global attractivity of the coexistence state in two generalized diffusive prototypes of the symbiotic and competing species models of Lotka-Volterra.

Extension of Díaz-Saá's inequality in RN and application to a system of p-Laplacian [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The purpose of this paper is to extend the Díaz-Saá's inequality for the unbounded domains as RN: [fórmula]. The proof is based on the Picone's identity which is very useful in problems involving p-Laplacian. In a second part, we study some properties of

Estimates of the principal eigenvalue of the $p$-Laplacian and the $p$-biharmonic operator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
summary:We survey recent results concerning estimates of the principal eigenvalue of the Dirichlet $p$-Laplacian and the Navier $p$-biharmonic operator on a ball of radius $R$ in $\mathbb R^N$ and its asymptotics for $p$ approaching $1$ and $\infty ...

First Results of a New Inversion Tool for Thermospheric Neutral Mass Density Computations During Severe Geomagnetic Storms

open access: yesAGU Advances, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract In Low Earth Orbit (LEO), atmospheric drag is the dominant source of trajectory prediction error below approximately 700 km altitude, primarily due to inaccuracies in thermospheric density models. This work presents a method for temporally deconvolving Energy Dissipation Rates (EDRs) to produce single‐satellite density estimates, which can be ...
