Oscillatory Property of Solutions for p(t)-Laplacian Equations

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2007
We consider the oscillatory property of the following p(t)-Laplacian equations −(|u'|p(t)−2u')'=1/tθ(t)g(t,u), t>0. Since there is no Picone-type identity for p(t)- Laplacian equations, it is an unsolved problem that whether the Sturmian ...

The illusion of competence: Managers and the Dunning–Kruger effect

open access: yesEuropean Management Review, EarlyView.
Abstract Do managers properly recognize their own expertise? This study explores distortions in self‐perception by investigating the presence of the Dunning–Kruger effect, a cognitive bias that distorts self‐assessment, within managerial contexts. Although widely studied in psychology, its implications for management remain underexplored.

Cross‐Prudence and Optimal Prevention

open access: yesInternational Economic Review, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we study optimal prevention in the presence of a correlated nonfinancial background risk. Under positive correlation, cross‐prudence in the nonfinancial attribute reduces optimal prevention. We establish this result in the most direct extension of the standard prevention problem with binary marginal distributions and show that ...

Beyond Tobacco Prevention: The Effects of Tobacco 21 Laws on Young Adults' Body Weight

open access: yesHealth Economics, Volume 35, Issue 9, Page 1406-1423, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Tobacco 21 (T21) laws effectively reduce youth tobacco use by preventing initiation. This study examines their impact on body weight among young adults aged 18–20. Using 2009–2019 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data and a two‐way fixed‐effects difference‐in‐differences (DID) design, we find limited evidence of broad weight changes ...

Migrating and Nonmigrating Neutral Mass Density Tides From GRACE‐FO Observations for Solar Minimum Conditions

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract This study presents the migrating and nonmigrating thermospheric neutral mass density tides from the Gravity Recovery And Climate Experiment Follow‐On (GRACE‐FO) observations under solar minimum conditions (year 2020). The observed densities are first mapped to a reference altitude of 500 km using an empirical model (NRLMSIS 2.0) to remove the

Plasma Elastase Screening in Hematological Disease Reveals Its Potential as a Diagnostic and Prognostic Biomarker in Hematological Malignancies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, Volume 48, Issue 4, Page 795-806, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neutrophil‐extracellular traps are net‐like material released by triggered neutrophils and composed of decondensed chromatin linked to nuclear proteins. Elastase, one of the fourth most represented neutrophil‐specific serine proteases stored in azurophil granules of naïve neutrophils, exerts various actions, including degradation ...

Controlling of the F Region Plasma Structures by the E Region Conductance in the Auroral Ionosphere

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 14, 28 July 2026.
Abstract At high latitudes, the E and F regions of the ionosphere are strongly coupled through nearly vertical magnetic field lines. To simultaneously and directly relate the E and F regions' plasma structures, we ran a coordinated conjunction campaign between Swarm satellites and Incoherent Scatter Radar in Tromsø, Norway, during a moderate ...

Generalized Picone identity for Finsler -Laplacian and its applications

open access: yesUkrains’kyi Matematychnyi Zhurnal, 2021
UDC 517.9 We prove a generalized Picone-type identity for Finsler -Laplacian and use it to establish some qualitative results for some boundary-value problems involving Finsler -Laplacian.

Latitudinal Discrepancy Between Thermospheric Density and Temperature Associated With Neutral Composition Effect

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 14, 28 July 2026.
Abstract In this study, multi‐source thermospheric observations and TIEGCM simulations were used to explore the latitudinal variations of thermospheric temperature and total mass density at equinoxes. At nighttime, temperature and density exhibit consistent latitudinal patterns, with higher values at high latitudes.

Vaccination Coverage and Prevention Counselling for Vaccine‐Preventable STIs Among HIV PrEP Users in São Paulo, Brazil: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesJournal of the International AIDS Society, Volume 29, Issue S2, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction HIV pre‐exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) users may be disproportionately vulnerable to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in general, including several that are vaccine‐preventable. Understanding immunization patterns in this population is, therefore, crucial. However, data on vaccination coverage among Brazilian PrEP users remains
