A new efficient scheduling algorithm in bluetooth piconet
IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2004. GLOBECOM '04., 2005Bluetooth is a system for providing short-range, small size, low-power and low-cost connectivity operating in the ISM (industrial scientific medicine) band at 2.4 GHz (http://www.bluetooth.com). Bluetooth has been seen as a promising candidate for ad-hoc wireless networking and wireless personal area networks (WPAN).

New Bluetooth inter-piconet schedule with a slave to slave piconet formation
5th European Personal Mobile Communications Conference 2003, 2003The growing use of information intensive consumer devices such as cell phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and laptop computers have called for a new networking paradigm for their interconnection. Up to 8 Bluetooth devices can form a centralized network, called a piconet, controlled by a master node, which allocates transmission slots to all ...

Analytical Investigation on the Coexistence of Bluetooth Piconets
IEEE Communications Letters, 2004In this letter, we address the issue of Bluetooth (BT) piconets coexistence by analytically deriving a lower bound on the aggregated throughput offered by BT piconets deployed in the same region and by evaluating the optimal number of piconets as a function of the region dimension.

Piconet security in IEEE 802.15.3 WPAN
IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2005, 2005IEEE 802.15.3 is designed for short-distance wireless connectivity within a wireless personal area network (WPAN). It has great significance for applications such as home networking. Security is one of the fundamental issues in IEEE 802.15.3 WPAN. Although several security mechanisms have been defined in the standard, there are many others open and ...

Basic relationship on capacity of bluetooth piconets
2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems, 2007This paper analyzes the capacity of medium access in a Bluetooth system. A random model of data transmission has been developed, establishing the relationship between data rate and transmission success rate (or data loss rate) for the first time, i.e., in a piconet, too large data rate will surely bring data loss for any scheduling.

An Efficient and Optimized Bluetooth Scheduling Algorithm for Piconets
2007Bluetooth is a short-range radio technology operating in the unlicensed industrial-scientific-medical (ISM) band at 2.45 GHz. A scatternet is established by linking several piconets together in ad hoc fashion to yield a global wireless ad hoc network.

An efficient algorithm for scheduling in bluetooth piconets and scatternets
Wireless Networks, 2009Bluetooth is a short-range radio technology operating in the unlicensed industrial-scientific-medical (ISM) band at 2.45 GHz. A piconet is basically a collection of slaves controlled by a master. A scatternet, on the other hand, is established by linking several piconets together in an ad hoc fashion to yield a global wireless ad hoc network.

A Sniff Scheduling Policy for Power Saving in Bluetooth Piconet
11th International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems (ICPADS'05), 2005After deeply analyzing sniff mode which is a low power operation mode of Bluetooth, a learning function is used to approximate the distribution of the incoming traffic at a master-slave pair. Based the inter-arrival times of data packets obtained from the learning function, the mean of these inter-arrival times is the possible sniff interval; according

Differentiated Priority Scheduling and Adaptive Segmentation for Bluetooth Piconets
Proceedings of the 39th Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS'06), 2006Bluetooth is a wireless communication technology, aimed at supporting connectivity among close proximity mobile devices. Bluetooth enables the design of low-power, low-cost, and small-size radios. Bluetooths MAC is a polling based protocol, where a central Bluetooth unit (master) determines channel access to all other nodes (slaves) in the network ...

Mutual interference between independent bluetooth piconets
IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2003The Bluetooth wireless communication technology provides wireless solutions applicable for a number of communications needs. In addition, multiple independent piconets are possible and likely to occur within the same location, either intentionally or by chance.
