MRI of acute neck infections: evidence summary and pictorial review
AbstractInfection of the deep neck spaces is a life-threatening acute illness that requires prompt diagnosis and treatment. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) offers unsurpassed soft tissue discrimination and is therefore well suited for imaging neck infections. Recently, the feasibility, diagnostic accuracy, and clinical significance of this method have

Evidence of the Effectiveness of Pictorial Health Warnings on Cigarette Packaging in Nepal [PDF]
Tobacco Control Act of 2010 mandates government to implement at least 75% pictorial health warnings (PHWs) on tobacco packaging that was enforced in 2013. The purpose of the study was to assess the effectiveness of PHWs and its impact to the policy change.A cross-sectional study was conducted in 9 cities between September 2014 and March 2015.

CD –27°11535: Evidence for a Triple System in the β Pictoris Moving Group
Abstract We present new spatially resolved astrometry and photometry of the CD –27°11535 system, a member of the β Pictoris moving group consisting of two resolved K-type stars on a ∼20 yr orbit. We fit an orbit to relative astrometry measured from NIRC2, GPI, and archival NaCo images, in addition to literature measurements. However, the

Pictorial low-level features in mental images: evidence from eye fixations
It is known that eye movements during object imagery reflect areas visited during encoding. But will eye movements also reflect pictorial low-level features of imagined stimuli? In this paper, three experiments are reported in which we investigate whether low-level properties of mental images elicit specific eye movements.

FAILURE TO FIND EVIDENCE OF STIMULUS GENERALIZATION WITHIN PICTORIAL CATEGORIES IN PIGEONS [PDF]
Pigeons' key pecks were reinforced in the presence of pictures from one of two categories, cats or cars. A single picture associated with reinforcement was used in Experiment 1, and 20 pictures from the same category were associated with reinforcement in Experiment 2.

MILLIMETER IMAGING OF THE β PICTORIS DEBRIS DISK: EVIDENCE FOR A PLANETESIMAL BELT [PDF]
We present observations at 1.3 millimeters wavelength of the beta Pictoris debris disk with beam size 4.3 x 2.6 arcsec (83 x 50 AU) from the Submillimeter Array. The emission shows two peaks separated by ~7 arsec along the disk plane, which we interpret as a highly inclined dust ring or belt.

Evidence for an additional planet in the β Pictoris system
With its imaged debris disk of dust, its evaporating exocomets, and an imaged giant planet, the young (~23 Myr) β Pictoris system is a unique proxy for detailed studies of planet formation processes as well as planet–disk interactions. Here, we study ten years of European Southern Observatory/High Accuracy Radial Velocity Planet Searcher (HARPS) high ...

Effects of magic come in from the cold: Pictorial evidence of placebo effect [PDF]
Known as the song of Muu and published by Holmer and Wassen in 1947 [1], it was the first magical religious text to attract interest in the West. Erland Nordenskiold, a Swedish pioneer in the study of alien cultures, had drawn attention to it in 1938 [2].

Validity evidence for the Pictorial Scale of Perceived Water Competence short form (PSPWC-4)
Promoting swimming and water safety is an important public health issue. The Pictorial Scale of Perceived Water Competence (PSPWC) requires children to indicate their perceived competence using three difficulty levels for 17 swimming scenarios. The aim was to purposefully select four critical scenarios of the PSPWC to create the PSPWC-short form and ...
