Correlation of Consolidation Parameters of Cohesive Soils with Piezocone Penetration Test Data

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2016
This paper presents an evaluation of the piezocone penetration test (PCPT) interpretation methods and the development of new correlation methods for reasonably estimating the consolidation parameters of cohesive soils, namely, the constrained modulus and overconsolidation ratio (OCR).

Effective friction angle of clays and silts from piezocone penetration tests

Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 2018
An existing effective stress limit plasticity solution for piezocone penetration tests (CPTu) is calibrated to evaluate the effective stress friction angle ([Formula: see text]) for undrained conditions for a variety of fine-grained soils ranging from natural lean to plastic clays and clayey silts from marine, alluvial, lacustrine, deltaic, and ...

Application of the Piezocone Penetration Testing to Assess Flow Characteristics of Marine Clay

Tunneling and Underground Construction, 2014
Parameters from piezocone test (CPTU) are commonly used for soil profiling and geostratigraphy, along with the parameters used for assessment of geotechnical design. CPTU provides near-continuous measurements of tip resistance, sleeve friction and pore pressure at the shoulder, or face, or shaft of the cone.

Probabilistic identification of contaminated soils using resistivity piezocone penetration tests

Acta Geotechnica, 2018
The identification of contaminated soils has gained increasing interest over the decades in the geoenvironmental issues. In this study, a probabilistic method based on the geostatistics and the reliability-based analysis is performed on the resistivity piezocone penetration testing data to evaluate the spatial distribution of the contaminants including

Analysis of Consolidation Processing of Piezocone Penetration Test in Cutoff Wall

2018
The piezocone penetration test (CPTU) is now widely used as an efficient and economical in-situ geotechnical investigation technology. The CPTU not only can provide the data of conventional cone penetration test (CPT), but also give a continuous profile of pore pressure.

Reliability of Piezocone Penetration Test Methods for Estimating the Coefficient of Consolidation of Cohesive Soils

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2005
The current piezocone penetration test (PCPT) interpretation methods were evaluated for their capability to estimate the vertical coefficient of consolidation (c v ) of cohesive soils reasonably by using the piezocone dissipation tests. Seven PCPT methods were evaluated.

Computational Modeling of Torpedo Base Penetration at Seabed Using Piezocone Tests

Ibero-Latin American Congress on Computational Methods in Engineering (CILAMCE)
This study presents a comprehensive investigation into the dynamics of torpedo anchor penetration at the seabed, leveraging real marine soil data obtained from Piezocone Tests (CPTu tests) provided by a prominent Brazilian oil and gas company. Recognizing the significance of accurate soil characterization, particularly in marine environments, the ...

Cavity expansion-based interpretation of piezocone penetration test (CPTu) data in clays

Géotechnique
A cavity expansion-based method is proposed in this paper to correlate the relevant findings with the piezocone penetration test (CPTu) data in clays. The rigorous and explicit solution for both spherical and cylindrical undrained cavity expansion is adopted based on a unified critical state constitutive model for clays and sands.
