Bipolar Piezoelectric Buckling Actuators
A nonlinear piezoelectric amplification mechanism utilizing structural buckling is presented, and its static and dynamic properties are measured and analyzed. Buckling is a pronounced nonlinear effect that occurs at a structurally singular point. A small piezoelectric displacement on the order of 10 μm results in a large buckling displacement on the ...

Emergent Freestanding Complex Oxide Membranes for Multifunctional Applications
This review surveys freestanding oxide membranes and covers fabrication and three pathways for studies and devices: strain‐free and strained membranes, and van der Waals‐integrated heterostructures. We show how coupled oxide responses map onto these routes and cross‐couple to expand behaviors.

Natural frequency of beams with embedded piezoelectric sensors and actuators
A mathematical model is developed to study the natural frequency of beams with embedded piezoelectric sensors and actuators. The piezoelectric sensors/actuators in a non-piezoelectric matrix (host beam) are analyzed as two inhomogeneity problems by using
