Determination of the d14 piezoelectric coefficient of tellurium

Ultrasonics, 1969
Abstract The piezoelectric coefficient d14 of Tellurium has been measured using longitudinal electromechanical resonance of rod-like samples. The applied electric field lies along a binary axis and the rod is perpendicular to this axis. We obtain: |d14| = (1.3 ± 0.15) 10-11C.N.-1.

Piezoelectric coefficients measured by picosecond ultrasonics

2009 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, 2009
The needs for materials in thin films characterization are increasing with the raising interest for Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems. Picosecond ultrasonics (PU), a non-contact and non-destructive technique, has been largely developed to answer the mechanical metrology requirements of thin films technology, particularly in the field of Bulk Acoustic ...

Microgeometry of Composites and Their Piezoelectric Coefficients $$\varvec{g_{ij}^{*} }$$

2018
Piezoelectric coefficients gij represent a link between an external mechanical stress applied to a sample and an electric field formed by polarisation charges of the sample as a result of the direct piezoelectric effect. The piezoelectric coefficients gij also characterise a link between a strain and electric displacement at the converse piezoelectric ...

Piezoelectric Coefficients of PZT Thin Films

Integrated Ferroelectrics, 2002
Longitudinal piezoelectric coefficient (d 33 ) and transverse piezoelectric coefficient (e 31 ) of sol-gel derived lead zirconate titanate (PZT) thin films have been measured. d 33 was measured based on the converse piezoelectric effect using a single beam laser interferometer. Bending of the substrate caused by surface displacement of the PZT film was

Inequality of direct and converse piezoelectric coefficients

Ferroelectrics, 1981
Abstract It is demonstrated theoretically and experimentally that the direct and converse piezoelectric coefficients. ∂P/∂σ and ∂e/∂E, are not equal as is generally believed. The correct relationship between these coefficients is derived, and it is shown that the experimentally measured quantities analogous to the piezoelectric coefficients are equal ...

Direct measurement of piezoelectric shear coefficient

Journal of Applied Physics, 2013
Piezoelectric materials exhibit electromechanical coupling which has led to their widespread application for sensors, actuators, and energy harvesters. These materials possess anisotropic behavior with the shear coefficient, and have the largest electromechanical coupling coefficient.

Effectiveness coefficient measures for piezoelectric sensors

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 1996
Abstract Two piezoelectric sensor effectiveness coefficients that provide a quantitative measure of effectiveness for piezoelectric materials which are being used for sensing strain (voltage sensor) or strain rate (current sensor) are introduced.

Laminates with Given Piezoelectric Expansion Coefficients

Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, 2006
This paper concerns laminates made of composite plies with piezoelectric actuators. The subject of the paper is the research of laminates having, in some directions, null expansion coefficients in extension or having the same expansion coefficient in each direction (isotropic behavior). The general equations for the problem are given in the theoretical

Biodegradable ferroelectric molecular crystal with large piezoelectric response

Science
Transient implantable piezoelectric materials are desirable for biosensing, drug delivery, tissue regeneration, and antimicrobial and tumor therapy. For use in the human body, they must show flexibility, biocompatibility, and biodegradability.

Sensor effectiveness coefficients for piezoelectric materials

Proceedings of 1995 American Control Conference - ACC'95, 2005
Two piezoelectric sensor effectiveness coefficients that provide a quantitative measure of effectiveness for piezoelectric materials which are being used for sensing strain (voltage sensor), or strain-rate (current sensor) are introduced. The use of these coefficients for selecting sensor materials is illustrated through a numerical example.
