Theoretical modelling of frequency dependent elastic loss in composite piezoelectric transducers

open access: yes, 2007
The large number of degrees of freedom in the design of piezoelectric transducers requires a theoretical model that is computationally efficient so that a large number of iterations can be performed in the design optimisation.

An Overview on Piezoelectric Cellular Polymers: Properties and Preparation [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و تکنولوژی پلیمر, 2020
Piezoelectricity can be described as a capability of some particular materials which convert mechanical energy to electrical and vice versa. In addition to ceramics (such as PZT) and polar polymers (PVDF and its copolymers), non-polar cellular polymers ...

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Ultra-high energy harvester performance in KNN-based textured piezoceramics via multiscale reconfiguration design

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Ceramics
The lower electromechanical performance of lead-free piezoelectric materials remains a critical bottleneck impeding their ability to replace lead-based materials in energy harvesting.

Continuous Stiffness Graded Metal–Ceramic Femoral Stems: UMAT‐Based Design and Finite Element Assessment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Functionally graded metal–ceramic femoral stems are engineered through continuous UMAT‐based stiffness tailoring, eliminating discrete material interfaces while enhancing biomechanical compatibility. Low‐index power‐law gradation optimizes load transfer, reduces stress shielding, and controls implant–bone micromotion, highlighting a materials‐design ...

Understanding and tuning negative longitudinal piezoelectricity in hafnia

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials
Most piezoelectric materials exhibit a positive longitudinal piezoelectric effect (PLPE), while a negative longitudinal piezoelectric effect (NLPE) is rarely reported or paid much attention.

Effect of constrained sintering on the piezoelectric properties of PZT thick films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This thesis concerns the processing of thick lead zirconate titanate (PZT) films integrated with rigid substrates. The aim was to better understand the evolution of the microstructure, stress, and electrical properties of the films under constrained ...
