The Design of a Piezoelectric Heart Assist Device

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 1975
A piezoelectric heart assist device was designed, and preliminary tests were performed in vitro and in vivo. The device has the advantages of simple construction, low power consumption (approximately one watt), electrical rather than pneumatic drive, and noiseless operation.

Calvarial Bone Harvesting With Piezoelectric Device

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2007
We introduce the use of a piezoelectric device in order to harvest calvarial bone grafts. The vibration frequency of the instrument allows for the efficient cutting of bone without the risk of accidentally damaging the dura.

Piezoelectric AlN film for SAW devices applications

1993 Proceedings IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium, 1993
Polycrystalline AlN films with the c-axis oriented normal to the substrate surface, were deposited by RF reactive diode magnetron sputtering on fused quartz, silicon and sapphire. The films were characterized as to their morphology, optic and acoustic characteristics.

New Piezoelectric Substrates for SAW Devices

International Journal of High Speed Electronics and Systems, 2000
Recent developments in single crystal piezoelectric materials have focused on the search for "ideal" materials with zero temperature coefficient of frequency orientations featuring jointly high piezoelectric coupling, high intrinsic Q, zero power flow angle, and minimized diffraction effects.

Parameterization of a Piezoelectric Nanomanipulation Device

Volume 2: Automotive Systems, Bioengineering and Biomedical Technology, Fluids Engineering, Maintenance Engineering and Non-Destructive Evaluation, and Nanotechnology, 2006
Through measurement of hysteresis and drift in a piezoelectrically driven multi-axis multi-positioner nanomanipulator, we have quantified error over ranges of three primary operating parameters: gain, duty cycle, and actuation time. A total of sixty-nine curves were plotted, and error and drift measured in a single operating plane.
