Electric Auxetic Effect in Piezoelectrics

Physical Review Letters, 2020
Auxetic materials are characterized by a negative Poisson's ratio that they expand laterally in the directions perpendicular to the applied stretching stress and vice versa. Piezoelectrics will change their dimensions when exposed to an external electric field.

Piezoelectricity Effect Detector

Kristall und Technik, 1974
AbstractAn apparatus for the detection of the piezoelectricity effect in non‐conducting crystals is described. It is possible to mark the crystal resonance frequency and show the resonance curve on the oscilloscope, both with or without mechanical contact between the crystal and electrodes.

Radiation piezoelectric effect

Physics Letters A, 1976
Abstract The results of experimental investigation of a new phenomenon - appearance of an emf across a single germanium sample subject both to irradiation with charged particles and to uniaxial deformation in a direction perpendicular to the particle beam (radiation piezoelectric effect - RPE) - are reported.

Piezoelectric drill based on converse piezoelectric effect

2008 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves, and Device Applications, 2008
A new type of mode convert piezoelectric drill is presented. The drill uses converse piezoelectric effect to work. When exciting voltage is applied on piezoelectric ceramics, the basic structure of the drill will produce longitudinal vibration, which will be converted to local bending vibration by the drill bit fixed on the basic structure with an ...

Note: Direct piezoelectric effect microscopy

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2015
An alternative method for investigating piezoelectric surfaces is suggested, exploiting the direct piezoeffect. The technique relies on acoustic (ultrasonic) excitation of the imaged surface and mapping of the resulting oscillatory electric potential. The main advantages arise from the spatial resolution of the conductive scanning probe microscopy in ...
