Piezoelectric effects in electroreflectance

Solid State Communications, 1970
Abstract The contribution of piezoelectric strain to electroreflectance is investigated. The symmetry properties of this contribution are deduced for zincblende materials, and contrasted with those of electroreflectance. Separate observations of these contributions is shown to be possible, and good agreement with the phenomenological, tensorial ...

Effective charges and piezoelectricity

Physical Review B, 1974
The effective charge for piezoelectricity is calculated using the bond-orbital model and Martin's internal-displacement parameters. Direct and simple calculations made with no additional parameters lead to a semiquantitative description of this effect.

The piezoelectric effect in polymers

Polymer Mechanics, 1972
A series of polymers with varying polarity and chain rigidity has been investigated. On the basis of the results obtained it is concluded that piezoelectric properties are to be found in polarized polymers with small dipole groups and a rigid chain due to their polarity.

Comparative analysis on piezoelectric effect and electromagnetic effect for the further study of multi-piezoelectric effect

Proceedings of 2012 International Conference on Measurement, Information and Control, 2012
This paper is devoted to the study on similarity of piezoelectric effect and electromagnetic effect from the following points, which are the model of piezoelectric effect and electromagnetic effect, the fundamental equations of piezoelectric field and electromagnetic field, the multi-induced effect of piezoelectric effect and electromagnetic effect ...

Surface piezoelectricity: Size effects in nanostructures and the emergence of piezoelectricity in non-piezoelectric materials

Journal of Applied Physics, 2011
In this work, using a combination of a theoretical framework and atomistic calculations, we highlight the concept of “surface piezoelectricity,” which can be used to interpret the piezoelectricity of nanostructures. Focusing on three specific material systems (ZnO, SrTiO3, and BaTiO3), we discuss the renormalization of apparent piezoelectric behavior ...

On the Piezoelectric Effect of Bone

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1957
The piezoelectric effect of bone has been observed similarly to the case of wood or ramie. The specimens were cut out from the femur of man and ox, and dried completely by heating. The piezoelectric constants were measured by three different experiments, that is, measurements of the static direct effect, the dynamic direct effect and the dynamic ...

Chiral effects in piezoelectricity

Mechanics Research Communications, 2017
Abstract This paper is concerned with the linear theory of piezoelectricity for Cosserat continua. The deformation of homogeneous and isotropic chiral materials is investigated. First, a counterpart of the Boussinesq–Somigliana–Galerkin solution in the classical elastostatics is presented.
