Piezo-generated charge mapping revealed through Direct Piezoelectric Force Microscopy
While piezoelectrics and ferroelectrics are playing a key role in many everyday applications, there are still a number of open questions related to the physics of those materials.

In‐situ doping during growth of SnSe and subsequent attachment of SnS produces high‐quality lateral pn‐heterojunctions between van der Waals semiconductors. Electron beam induced current measurements demonstrate electrically active pn‐junctions, paving the way for devices that harness charge separation at lateral interfaces in layered heterostructures.

The theory of direct magnetoelectric effect in the bilayer system of ferromagnetic–piezoelectric [PDF]
The theory of direct magnetoelectric (ME) effect in a bilayer of ferromagnetic and piezoelectric is developed taking into account nonuniform distribution of electrical field on a piezoelectric layer thickness.

Study of orientation effect on nanoscale polarization in BaTiO3 thin films using piezoresponse force microscopy [PDF]
We have investigated the effect of texture on in-plane (IPP) and out- of plane (OPP) polarizations of pulsed-laser-deposited BaTiO3 thin films grown on Pt and La0.5Sr0.5CoO3 (LSCO) buffered Pt electrodes.

Rational halogen mixing strategy was employed to shift the bandgap of Cs2PbBr2I2 from ultraviolet to visible region, enabling first realization of a visible‐light photodetector with this 2D layered Ruddlesden‐Popper perovskite material. Under illumination, light‐induced internal field forms and drives trap‐mediated persistent photoconductivity ...

We combine ab initio, tight-binding methods and analytical theory to study piezoelectric effect of boron nitride nanotubes. We find that piezoelectricity of a heteropolar nanotube depends on its chirality and diameter and can be understood starting from ...

Numerical Analysis of Piezoelectric Active Repair in the Presence of Frictional Contact Conditions
The increasing development of smart materials, such as piezoelectric and shape memory alloys, has opened new opportunities for improving repair techniques. Particularly, active repairs, based on the converse piezoelectric effect, can increase the life of

Modeling electromechanical properties of layered electrets: Application of the finite-element method
We present calculations on the deformation of two- and three-layer electret systems. The electrical field is coupled with the stress-strain equations by means of the Maxwell stress tensor.
