Fabrication and properties of PZT and PMN-PT piezoelectric fibers and piezoelectric fiber composites

2009 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves, and Device Applications (SPAWDA 2009), 2009
PZT powder is synthesized by solid reaction and PMN—PT is synthesized by columbite method. PZT and PMN—PT piezoelectric fibers are prepared by sol-powder mixture extrusion. 1–3 piezoelectric fiber composites are fabricated by arraying-casting technique. The influence of fiber composition on dielectric properties and piezoelectric properties are studied.

Piezoelectric bimorph optical-fiber sensor

Applied Optics, 2004
We propose and demonstrate a novel high-voltage optical-fiber sensor. This sensor consists of an emitting fiber, a receiving fiber, and a piezoelectric bimorph transducer. The emitting fiber is fixed in a base, whereas the receiving fiber is mounted on the free end of the piezoelectric bimorph transducer.

Fiber-based Piezoelectric Sensors in Woven Structure

2020 17th International Conference on Ubiquitous Robots (UR), 2020
In this study, we investigated the characteristics of piezoelectric sensors woven with a flexible fiber-based substrate. Eight polyvinylidene fluoride film-based piezoelectric sensors were placed in parallel on a flexible fabric, passing above and below the intersection of the yarns.

Piezoelectricity of Chiral Polymeric Fibers

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2007
We studied a method for electrically controlling the bending of a poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) fiber. First, we simply evaluated the piezoelectric characteristics of PLLA fibers, which were produced under various conditions, to study bending motion using the measurement system developed here. As a result, a PLLA fiber (drawn seven times, 150 µm diameter)

Piezoelectric fibers for energy harvesting.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2010
Most energy harvesting devices rely on traditional piezoelectric materials integrated in structures subjected to mechanical vibrations. A new kind of commercially available composite sensors consists of several PZT fibers embedded in a passive polymer matrix with interdigitated electrodes deposited on the polymer. The main advantage of these sensors is

A poling technique for piezoelectric fibers and fiber property characterization

Ferroelectrics, 1994
Abstract The conventional poling method and piezoelectric measurement technique cannot be directly applied to piezoelectric fibers. In this work the serial poling method was designed and successfully applied to PZT ceramic single fiber with diameter of 120 μm.

Flexible piezoelectric motor based on an acoustic fiber

Applied Physics Letters, 2000
A flexible, long (500 mm) and thin (diameter 0.8 mm) steel wire capable of transferring mechanical power from the stator of a piezoelectric motor to the rotor is presented. We experimentally demonstrate that the steel wire, acting as a waveguide and here called “acoustic fiber” by optical analogy, can transfer good mechanical power (maximum torque 1.4 ...

A Transparent and Flexible Graphene‐Piezoelectric Fiber Generator

Small, 2016
Piezoelectric fiber-based generators are prepared by combining two distinctive materials - poly(vinlyidene fluoride) fibers and monolayer/bilayer graphene. Novelty lies in the replacement of opaque metal electrodes with transparent graphene electrodes which enable the graphene-piezoelectric fiber generator to exhibit high flexibility and transparency ...

Composites with piezoelectric thin fibers—first evidence of piezoelectric behavior

Materials Research Innovations, 1999
The integration of functional components into composite materials is still a challenge for materials science. The integrated components themselves acting as sensor and/or as actuator should not interfere with the excellent mechanical properties of fiber-reinforced composite materials.
