V-stack piezoelectric actuator

SPIE Proceedings, 2001
Aeroelastic control of wings by means of a distributed, trailing-edge control surface is of interest with regards to maneuvers, gust alleviation, and flutter suppression. The use of high energy density, piezoelectric materials as motors provides an appealing solution to this problem. A comparative analysis of the state of the art actuators is currently

Piezoelectric stack actuator life test

2011 Aerospace Conference, 2011
Future NASA interferometer missions require actuators for precision positioning to accuracies of the order of nanometers. For this purpose, commercially available multilayer piezoelectric stack actuators are being considered for driving these precision positioning mechanisms.

Multilayer piezoelectric stack actuator characterization

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
Future NASA missions are increasingly seeking to use actuators for precision positioning to accuracies of the order of fractions of a nanometer. For this purpose, multilayer piezoelectric stacks are being considered as actuators for driving these precision mechanisms.

Advanced piezoelectric–ferroelectric stack actuator

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2009
Abstract A conceptual design and an operational algorithm for an advanced piezoelectric–ferroelectric stack actuator are developed. The actuator takes advantage of the large strains due to the domain-switching phenomenon and utilizes the nonlinear range of response of the ferroelectric material.

Piezoelectric ceramic stacks for underwater transducers

2015 IEEE Underwater Technology (UT), 2015
An analytical model is presented of a stack of annular rings used in underwater Tonpilz and Flextensional transducers to radiate high acoustic power. The length of each ring is much less than the average diameter. The model is based on exact solutions to exact piezoelectric governing equations for rings. Boundary and continuity conditions are satisfied

Large signal measurements on piezoelectric stacks

Ferroelectrics, 1995
The knowledge of the dielectric large signal properties of piezoelectric actuators for dynamic use is necessary to estimate the limits of application, to optimize the driving electronics, and to improve the actuator materials. A measurement technique has been developed for determination of the large signal parameters capacity, loss tangent, loss power,

Linear motor using stacked piezoelectric ceramics

2011 International Conference on Electronics, Communications and Control (ICECC), 2011
To meet the need of advanced manufacturing technology, a piezoelectric actuator with high resolution was developed in this work. The principle of exciting the driving tip to vibrate elliptically was analyzed in detail. A prototype was fabricated to validate the analysis.

High Performance ‘‘V-stack’’ Piezoelectric Actuator

Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, 2004
A comparative analysis of the state-of-the-art actuators is conducted. A new piezoelectric actuator design is presented. It is compact, simple, sturdy, and leverages stroke geometrically with minimum force penalties. The ‘‘V-stack Piezoelectric Actuator’’ consists of a base, a lever, two piezoelectric stacks, and a pretensioning element.

Durability Properties of Piezoelectric Stack Actuator

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1998
Changes of temperature were measured for stack actuators having various values of E c and bending strength. The increase of temperature was 75°C in the center of low E c stack for a starting environment temperature of 120°C with 130 Hz driving frequency.
