A flexible, skin‐integrated electromagnetic actuator is developed for wearable virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR) haptic systems. A tunable design model enables control over displacement and resonance frequency. The system is validated through a custom VR application with a 6 × 4 actuator array, demonstrating real‐time, spatially targeted tactile ...

Minimizing Scanning Errors in Piezoelectric Stack-Actuated Nanopositioning Platforms
Piezoelectric stack-actuated parallel-kinematic nanopositioning platforms are widely used in nanopositioning applications. These platforms have a dominant first resonant mode at relatively low frequencies, typically in the hundreds of hertz. Furthermore, piezoelectric stacks used for actuation have inherent nonlinearities such as hysteresis and creep ...

Focusing Mirror with Tunable Eccentricity
We present a new kind of varifocal mirror with independently adjustable curvatures in the major directions. For actuation we use two stacked piezo bending actuators with crossed in-plane polarization.

Motion Planning of a Stepping-Wriggle Type Piezoelectric Actuator Operating in Bending Modes
A new non-resonant-type piezoelectric actuator with unlimited stroke was proposed, in which two transducers operated in hybrid bending modes were used to generate the desired displacements with micrometer scale. Compared with the PZT stack, both positive

Mathematical modeling of a V-stack piezoelectric aileron actuation
The article presents a mathematical modeling of aileron actuation that uses piezo V-shaped stacks. The aim of the actuation is the increasing of flutter speed in the context of a control law, in order to widen the flight envelope. In this way the main advantage of such a piezo actuator, the bandwidth is exploited.

Piezoelectric devices for vibration suppression: Modeling and application to a truss structure [PDF]
For a space structure assembled from truss members, an effective way to control the structure may be to replace the regular truss elements by active members. The active members play the role of load carrying elements as well as actuators.
