Simulation model of the piezoelectric stack actuator
Proceedings of the 13th International Carpathian Control Conference (ICCC), 2012Piezoactuators become a perspective component for micromechanics and active vibration control. The piezoactuator as a microdrive operates on the principle of the reverse piezoelectric effect. Mechanical properties of the piezoactuators are as follows: high frequency range of operation, small travel range and large applied force.

Actuators using piezoelectric stacks and displacement enhancers
SPIE Proceedings, 2015Actuators are used to drive all active mechanisms including machines, robots, and manipulators to name a few. The actuators are responsible for moving, manipulating, displacing, pushing and executing any action that is needed by the mechanism. There are many types and principles of actuation that are responsible for these movements ranging from ...

Comparison of piezoelectric and electrostrictive actuator stacks
SPIE Proceedings, 1992Piezoelectrics have been around for decades as acoustic or sensing components. In the last few years, however, they have seen increasing use as means to provide motion and control in the micron realm, well below the resolution level of mechanical or electromechanical devices. Their high hysteresis (15 - 20%), however, was a problem in some systems, and

A transparent polymeric flexure-hinge nanopositioner, actuated by a piezoelectric stack actuator
Nanotechnology, 2011Nanopositioning using piezoelectric actuation and a flexure mechanism is one of most common methods for nanometre-scale positioning. Generally, flexure mechanism nanopositioners have been made from metal. Thus, their application to various environments needs careful consideration with regard to corrosion and circumference interference.

A Laser Scanner Using Stacked Piezoelectric Ceramic Actuator
Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1986A laser scanner using the displacement of two stacked piezo-electric ceramic actuators (Piezo-Stacks) has been developed. This scanner is capable of simultaneously scanning both X and Y axes up to 4.0 mrad at frequencies as high as 1.0 kHz. Possible uses include automated precise positioning of optics and lasers for LSI applications.

Dynamic Peculiarity of Piezoelectric-Stack Displacement-Amplifying Actuator
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011In order to find out the dynamic peculiarity of piezoelectric-stack displacement-amplifying actuator, three methods: harmonic response analysis, impedance test and dynamic grating projection are used to analyze it. Experimental results indicate that the displacement-amplifying mechanism can provide large output torque; its response time is less than 0 ...

Modeling of piezoelectric stack actuators considering bonding layers
Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, 2015In order to achieve large displacement output of piezoelectric actuators, piezoelectric stack actuators are realized by mechanically layering or stacking multi-chip piezoelectric wafers in series and electronically connecting electrodes in parallel.

Electro-Dynamic Transduction Equations for Piezoelectric Stack Actuators
Adaptive Structures and Composite Materials: Analysis and Application, 1994Abstract In this paper the transduction equations needed to predict the electro-dynamic behavior of piezoelectric stack actuators are derived. An impedance approach is used to develop the parameters; free electrical impedance, transduction coefficient, and short circuited mechanical impedance, needed to fully characterize the ...

Modal Active Vibration Control of a Rotor Using Piezoelectric Stack Actuators
Journal of Vibration and Control, 2007This work deals with active vibration control of a rotating machine in both steady state and transient motion. Two stacks of piezoelectric ceramic orthogonally arranged in a plane localized at one of the bearings were used as the control actuators, using a modal control strategy.
