ABSTRACT The muscle capsule of Trichinella is a critical structure that impedes immune attacks and drug penetration, yet the molecular mechanisms underlying its formation remain poorly understood. Using a high‐quality super‐pangenome comprising 12 Trichinella species, we compared extensive genomic variations between encapsulating and non‐encapsulating ...

Understanding how glomeruli, the kidney's filtration units, function in intact tissue remains challenging. Glomage enables rapid 3D imaging and quantitative analysis of entire glomeruli from zebrafish larvae and mice. This approach allows scalable cell quantification and detection of structural changes, advancing kidney disease research and ...

This work introduces a theragenerative 3D‐printed biodegradable stent with Janus nanoarchitecture for spatially controlled vascular healing. A luminal tantalum ion–implanted surface accelerates endothelialization and hemocompatibility, while an abluminal sirolimus/poly‐L‐lactic acid–tantalum layer provides sustained drug release and suppresses smooth ...

Confinement of lactating sows in crates for 4 days after farrowing reduces piglet mortality
To reduce mortality among suckling piglets, lactating sows are traditionally housed in farrowing crates. Alternatively, lactating sows can be housed in farrowing pens where the sow is loose to ensure more behavioural freedom and consequently a better ...

An injectable PACmC hydrogel with “rigid island‐flexible chain” architecture is developed, featuring low swelling (49.2% within 7 d), strong wet adhesion (46.5 kPa), and high burst pressure (701 mm Hg), which can achieve rapid hemostasis and long‐term sealing in rabbit and porcine models of hepatic and splenic hemorrhage.

Birth weight threshold for identifying piglets at risk for preweaning mortality [PDF]
Abstract Several studies have suggested there is a critical relationship between piglet birth weight and preweaning mortality. Thus, the objective of the current work was to identify a birth weight threshold value for preweaning mortality.

Abstract Our general interest is in global trade loss from livestock pathogens, specifically exports. We adopt a causal inference approach that considers animal disease outbreaks over time as non‐staggered binary treatments with the potential for switching in (infection) and out of treatment (recovery) within the sample period. The outcome evolution of

Effect of litter size, milk replacer and housing on production results of hyper-prolific sows
The modern hyper-prolific sow gives birth to more piglets than she has functional teats (in the following called supernumerary piglets). The aim of the present study was (1) to investigate the production consequences of hyper-prolific sows rearing ...

Nanobody mediated inhibition of attachment of F18 fimbriae expressing Escherichia coli [PDF]
Post-weaning diarrhea and edema disease caused by F18 fimbriated E. coli are important diseases in newly weaned piglets and lead to severe production losses in farming industry.
