Pigment Cell Pattern Formation
2017In this chapter, an LGCA is introduced as model for pattern formation in salamander larvae. After providing the biological background the model is defined and tested by means of simulations. Model results demonstrate that the larval stripe pattern can arise solely as a consequence of direct cell interactions.

Computer simulation of a Mulluscan pigmentation pattern
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1969The formal characteristics of a colour pattern of complex appearance on a molluscan shell were studied by developing a computer program which produces an acceptable simulation of it. The pattern clearly involves a random factor determining points of initiation of diverging lines of pigment.

Patterned Dystrophies of the Retinal Pigment Epithelium
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1977Three varieties of patterned dystrophies of the retinal pigment epithelium have been described in the literature: They are reticular dystrophy, macroreticular dystrophy, and butterfly-shaped pigment dystrophy of the fovea (macula). They are all inherited and are bilateral and symmetric.

Cell projections set up pigment pattern
Science, 2017Cell Signaling Macrophages eliminate dead or dying cells and identify and destroy invading microbes. However, they also exhibit nonimmune functions in development and homeostasis. Eom and Parichy show that macrophages are essential for postembryonic remodeling during adult pigment stripe formation in zebrafish (see the Perspective by Guilliams ...

Pattern Dystrophy of the Retinal Pigment Epithelium
Ophthalmology, 1982The pattern dystrophies are a group of hereditary macular dystrophies characterized by lesions of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) arranged in various patterns of dots, lines, and branched figures. This report of two pedigrees expands the clinical spectrum.

Patterned dystrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium
Ophthalmic Paediatrics and Genetics, 1986The authors describe a family presenting with a patterned dystrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium. The aspect of the macular area is granular to reticular with a tendency to a butterfly shape. Visual functions are normal or near-normal. A review of the literature is given.

Hydroxychloroquine induced cutaneous pigmentation: a unique pattern
Postgraduate Medical Journal, 2019An elderly woman presented with 6 months history of skin coloured to erythematous papules in annular pattern over extremities, upper back and neck. The patient was diagnosed with granuloma annulare (GA) and started on hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) 300 mg daily. After 4 months of treatment, she developed bluish grey pigmentation within the plaques of GA with

Pattern dystrophies of the retinal pigment epithelium
Clinical and Experimental Optometry, 2000We describe a family that shows autosomal dominant pattern dystrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium. There were 10 affected family members encompassing three generations. The various manifestations of these dystrophies, their inheritance characteristics, affects on vision function and their pathogenesis are discussed.

Pattern dystrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium
International Ophthalmology, 1987We describe six related patients presenting with an autosomal dominantly inherited pattern dystrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium, significantly abnormal electro-oculogram and minor colour vision abnormalities. There is a continuum of variable phenotypic expression within the pattern dystrophies of the retinal pigment epithelium.

Origin of fish pigment cell for pattern
Science, 2014Zebrafish adult pigment cells arise from several lineages and require thyroid hormone for pattern development.
