Simulated Seismic Load Tests on Prestressed Concrete Piles and Pile-Pile Cap Connections
PCI Journal, 1990The results of tests conducted in New Zealand on prestressed concrete piles and pile-pile cap connections subjected to simulated seismic loading are summarized. The piles were of prestressed pretensioned concrete with a 400 mm (15.7 in.) octagonal cross section and contained spiral reinforcement. The pile caps were of reinforced concrete.

Nonlinear Buckling Analysis of Piles with High-Rise Pile Cap
Deep Foundations and Geotechnical In Situ Testing, 2010To study the buckling stability of piles with high-rise cap widely used in bridge and harbor engineering, the advantages as well as the insufficiency of traditional analysis methods (e.g., the method using the minimum potential energy theory and variational method by treating the pile shaft as ideal axially-compressed bars) were first discussed.

Deep Pile Cap with Tension Piles
SP-273: Further Examples for the Design of Structural Concrete with Strut-and-Tie Models, 2010Deep pile-caps are commonly used in structures. Two approaches, sectional design and Strut-and-Tie Model (STM) design are presented in this paper for designing deep pile-caps under a combination of axial load, shear, and moment that produces tension in some piles.

Interaction of Piles and Cap In Piled Footings
Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1980This note describes a laboratory-scale experimental investigation undertaken to study how the separate ultimate bearing capacities of pile groups and footings (caps) are related to the resulting bearing capacities of the piled footings formed as a combination of group and cap.

Analysis of Pipe Pile-Pile Cap-Superstructure Ground Motion Response
Advanced Materials Research, 2011Measure the test points of the natural frequencies, the Fourier amplitude spectrum, power spectrum and other parameters by enter different types and frequencies of seismic waves and the stimulation of white noise in the pile shaking table test and seismic wave propagation in the model pipe. Analysis of the transfer law of seismic waves in the pipe pile-

Three-dimensional analysis of pile caps
Computers & Structures, 1992Abstract A general three-dimensional elasticity solution of pile caps with symmetrically placed column and piles has been presented and illustrated by application to pile caps with two and four piles. The solution of the governing differential equations of three-dimensional elasticity theory has been expressed in the form of a Galerkin vector.

Concrete Filled Steel Tube Piles to Concrete Pile-Cap Connections
Structures Congress 2012, 2012This paper describes preliminary findings from a Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) funded project focused on testing the seismic performance of concrete filled steel tube (CFT) pile to concrete pile-cap connections. These connections are common/critical components of the support structure for highway bridges in Montana and across the country ...

Behavior of model steel H-pile-to-pile-cap connections
Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2013Abstract Steel H-shaped piles are widely used in bridge foundations, but studies on their connections with reinforced concrete pile-cap are quite limited. This paper reports experimental results from monotonically loaded static tests on model steel H-pile to pile-cap connections,in which the piles were subjected to tensile loading or horizontal ...

Effects of Pile Cap in Single Pile and Lateral Capacity of Pile Group
Advances in Deep Foundations, 2005This paper describes the results for a numerical analysis of single piles and pile groups in clayey soils subjected to monotonous lateral loading using the ABAQUS finite element software. The investigated variables in this study include free head and embedded capped single piles, pile diameter (1.0 m, 0.5 m), pile length (7.0 m, 10.0 m), and pile ...

Integrity Testing of Three Model Piles with a Pile Cap
Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 2018Abstract Nondestructive pile integrity testing (PIT) methods based on the propagation of sonic/ultrasonic waves have been widely used for the quality assurance of newly constructed drilled shafts. However, application of these techniques for forensic investigations of existing piles may encounter difficulties that are due to the ...
