Structural analysis of pile cap as onshore wind turbine foundation

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais, 2021
: This paper analyzes the structural behavior of reinforced concrete pile caps as onshore wind turbine foundations using eight models based on the finite element method (FEM).

Performance of the ATLAS Trigger System in 2010 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Proton–proton collisions at √s=7 TeV and heavy ion collisions at √sNN=276 TeV were produced by the LHC and recorded using the ATLAS experiment’s trigger system in 2010.

Mechanical Behavior and Calculation Method for RC Fifteen-Pile Cap of Mixed Passenger and Freight Railway Bridge

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
The thickness, reinforcement, and concrete strength grade of railway caps in China are generally determined according to the force, yet the method for calculating the force is unclear.

Granular size segregation in underwater sand ripples [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We report an experimental study of a binary sand bed under an oscillating water flow. The formation and evolution of ripples is observed. The appearance of a granular segregation is shown to strongly depend on the sand bed preparation.

Effects of non-liquefiable crust layer and superstructure mass on the response of 2 × 2 pile groups to liquefaction-induced lateral spreading

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2023
In this research, two shake table experiments were conducted to study the effects of non-liquefiable crust layer and superstructure mass on the responses of two sets of 2 × 2 pile groups to liquefaction-induced lateral spreading.

Cassini detection of Enceladus' cold water-group plume ionosphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This study reports direct detection by the Cassini plasma spectrometer of freshly-produced water-group ions (O+, OH+, H2O+, H3O+) and heavier water dimer ions (HxO(2))(+) very close to Enceladus where the plasma begins to emerge from the plume.

Lateral Response of 2 x 2 Pile Group Embedded in Cohesive Soil Near Slope

open access: yesU.Porto Journal of Engineering, 2023
This work studies the response of a 2 x 2 pile group near a slope subjected to lateral load. Three-dimensional, non-linear finite element analysis is carried out. The entire code is developed in FORTRAN 90.

Multiwavelength study of RX J2015.6+3711: a magnetic cataclysmic variable with a 2-hr spin period [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The X-ray source RX J2015.6+3711 was discovered by ROSAT in 1996 and recently proposed to be a cataclysmic variable (CV). Here we report on an XMM-Newton observation of RX J2015.6+3711 performed in 2014, where we detected a coherent X-ray modulation at a

Analysis of the influence of column reinforcement anchorage length in a concrete two-pile cap

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais, 2018
This paper describes the parametric analysis applied to assess the influence of column anchorage-reinforcement length on concrete two-pile caps under uniform compression. The non-linear numerical analysis was conducted with the bi-dimensional elements of
