Prediction of load-carrying capacity of driven piles

Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 1988
Two methods are presented to estimate the load-carrying capacity of driven piles. These methods use a new wave equation model that incorporates the loss of energy to the soil mass through radiation damping of the soil. Conventional soil parameters are used in this new model.

Pile Load Capacity: Estimates and Test Results

Journal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division, 1966
The Michigan Pile Study (1961-1965) included a series of field loading tests on both bearing and friction piles in addition to the main investigation of pile driving hammers. A comparison was made between the measured capacity and that estimated from dynamic pile driving formulas and from soil test data from borings and laboratory tests.

Pile capacity for eccentric inclined load in clay

Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 1984
In connection with the design of offshore structures and bridge foundations, the ultimate bearing capacity of rigid piles and pile groups in clay has been determined under various combinations of eccentricity and inclination of the load varying from the vertical to horizontal directions.

Lateral Load Capacity of Piles In Offshore Structures

Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1973
In evaluating lateral load capacities of piles, three types of interaction are taken into account: between pile and soil, between pile and jacket structure, and between wave and structure. These interactions are normally analyzed individually. The trick is to piece them together. Here is an explanation of how that can be done and an example involving a

Lateral load bearing capacity of offshore high-piled wharf with batter piles

Ocean Engineering, 2017
Abstract Understanding the lateral load behavior of high-piled wharf is of practical value to structural design, and the horizontal load bearing capacity of the bent is essential to analyzing the behavior of the high-piled wharf. In this paper, finite element models of high-piled wharf are built in a general finite element software–ANSYS to ...

Axial Load Capacity of Model Piles in Sand

2015
The present paper addresses laboratory tests using model piles with three different diameters. Pullout tests were performed on the model piles installed by monotonic jacking in saturated fine sandy soils prepared at two initial relative densities. Resistance correlations are proposed based on these results.
