Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Experimental study on the mechanical behaviour of a heat exchanger pile using physical modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
International audienceThis study aims to provide knowledge on the thermo-mechanical behaviour of heat exchanger piles, through a laboratory scale model. The model pile (20 mm in external diameter) was embedded in dry sand.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An Empirical Study for Estimating Ultimate Bearing Capacity of Concrete Small-Pile Cluster in Soft Clays

open access: yesJournal of Applied Engineering and Technological Science
Soft subgrades with shear strength, cu of 10 kPa to 25 kPa are given low bearing capacity and high settlement. Local government has been built infrastructure of embankment such unpaved road on the soft subgrade by using timber and bamboo materials ...

Korelasi Penentuan Daya Dukung Tiang Cara Empirik (Cpt) Dengan Pile Driven Analysis (Pda) Di Kota Pekanbaru [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Axial bearing capacity of pile foundation can be estimated empirically from cone penetration test (CPT). Actual capacity of foundation can be obtained from static load test or pile driving analyzer (PDA).

CHD pile performance, Part I:Physical modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Continuous Helical Displacement (CHD) pile is an auger displacement pile developed by Roger Bullivant Ltd in the UK. It has performance characteristics of both displacement and non-displacement piles due to the nature in which it is installed.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Influencing factors of deep excavation on bearing capacity and settlement of piles beneath excavation

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2017
The deep excavation has a significant influence on the bearing capacity and settlement of piles beneath excavation. However, there are few researches on the influencing factors, especially the distribution of strata.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
