Shaft resistance of driven cast-in-situ piles in sand
Driven cast-in-situ (DCIS) piles are classified as a large displacement pile, despite sharing certain aspects of their construction with replacement pile types. However, there are relatively few case histories of load tests on DCIS piles in the literature to verify the assumption that they behave as large displacement piles.

Single‐Sensor Vibration Sensing in Anisotropic Composites Enabled by Disordered Metasurfaces
This work develops a single‐sensor vibration sensing (SSVS) framework that integrates disordered metasurfaces with compressive sensing. Comprehensive numerical and experimental validations demonstrate that, by manipulating anisotropic guided wave propagation through metasurfaces, the proposed SSVS framework enables high‐fidelity multi‐source vibration ...

An Evaluation of the Shaft Resistance of Piles Embedded in Gneissic Rock
In the design of piles drilled in rock, the following questions arise: (i) at what point of the soil/weathered rock/sound rock profile should the pile socket be designed; (ii) is the contribution of residual soil to be disregarded; (iii) how much consideration should be given to the pile boring method (rotary or hammering).

SHAFT RESISTANCE OF PILES CLOSE TO BACKFILLED SAND COLUMNS
In most reconstructions, existing old pile foundations are removed to construct new foundations. After removing the existing pile, the hole is backfilled, but there are issues such as different conditions from the surrounding ground. We report axial compressive loading model tests to investigate the shaft resistance of piles close to backfilled sand ...

F‐Type Pyocin Versus Phage λ Tail: Conserved Hub, Divergent Fibers
Near‐atomic cryo‐EM structures of a Gram‐negative F‐type pyocin reveal a conserved tail tip architecture shared with bacteriophage λ together with a previously unrecognized side‐fiber attachment mode. These findings provide new insight into tailocin assembly and host recognition and establish a structural framework for engineering precision ...

Numerical evaluation of effects of nonlinear lateral pile vibrations on nonlinear axial response of pile shaft [PDF]
Axial and lateral dynamic pile analyses are generally handled separately; and consequently, dynamic soil reactions are assumed to be uncoupled. However, pure loading is rarely encountered as combined loading occurs in many situations (offshore piles ...

Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a common form of hair loss with limited treatment options. Silencing of WNT5A signaling, which is widely known as the trigger of the ncWNT signaling pathway, happens in hair follicle stem cells from balding areas. It leads to downregulation of ATF3 and its target FOSB.
