A Novel Pilot Assignment Approach for Pilot Decontaminating in Massive MIMO Systems
2017 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), 2017This paper proposes a novel joint pilot assignment (JPA) approach aiming to eliminate pilot contamination in massive multiple-input multiple- output (MIMO) systems. The JPA approach jointly assigns pilots in both the time domain and spatial domain. With JPA, the multi-cell cellular massive MIMO network is divided into four cell groups.

Pilot decontamination in massive MIMO systems: Exploiting channel sparsity with pilot assignment
2014 IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing (GlobalSIP), 2014This paper deals with the pilot contamination problem for massive MIMO systems. Considering the sparse nature of channel impulse response inherent in wideband systems, the paths of channels of the desired and interference users hardly arrive at the same time, which allows most paths of desired channel to be distinguishable from the paths of ...

Joint pilot assignment and pilot contamination precoding design for massive MIMO systems
2017 26th Wireless and Optical Communication Conference (WOCC), 2017This paper investigates the joint design of pilot assignment and pilot contamination precoding (PCP) to combat pilot contamination in multi-cell multi-user massive MIMO systems. The system performance of the downlink transmission in massive MIMO with PCP is investigated and an optimization problem is formulated to find the best pilot assignment ...

Dynamic Pilot Assignment in Massive MIMO Systems with Time-Shifted Pilot
2018The time-shifted pilot with downlink data overlap considering an infinite number of antennas in base station can mitigate pilot contamination well, but there is still interference between the cells in the same group. Different from the conventional random pilot assignment method, this paper proposes a dynamic pilot assignment method based on the ...

Pilot hopping in multi-cell massive MIMO systems: Pilot assignment and new results
2017 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC), 2017Massive MIMO promises large spectral and power efficiency. However, pilot contamination, a well known challenge in massive MIMO, limits these aspired gains. In this paper, we propose a pilot hopping sequence along with a pilot reuse strategy for pilot decontamination.

A Smart Pilot Assignment in Multi-Cell Massive MIMO Systems Using Virtual Modeling of Assigning Cost
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2021In this paper, a smart pilot sequence assignment method is proposed to minimize inter-cell interference generated in a massive multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system due to pilot contamination in uplink TDD (Time Division Duplex) mode. The proposed method employs a zero-one integer linear programming method as the assignment algorithm.

A Pilot Scheme in Controlled Laboratory Assignments
International Journal of Electrical Engineering & Education, 1977A procedure is described which enables students to control their own laboratory work. An environment is thereby created which encourages the students to display initiative and take responsibility for their own work. A questionnaire illustrating student reaction and an example of a typical case study are included.

Pilot Assignment and Channel Estimation via Deep Neural Network
2018 24th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC), 2018In orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, channel estimation is by far the most important operation in the receiver to ensure the accurate detection and decoding. Over the years, pilot-aided channel estimation has been widely used for this purpose.
