Pilot Design and Optimization for OTFS Modulation
IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, 2021Orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) modulation has shown its advantages in high-mobility scenarios compared to orthogonal frequency division multiplexing. In this work, we focus on the OTFS pilot design and optimization from the perspective of improving the spectrum efficiency without degrading the channel estimation and symbol detection performance.

International Petroleum Technology Conference, 2009
Abstract Due to the complexity and uncertainty associated with most enhanced oil recovery (EOR) processes, a small-scale pilot is often needed to demonstrate the successful application of an EOR process within a specific reservoir prior to wider commercial implementation.

Pilot design for multi-user MIMO
2009 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2009In this paper, challenges regarding the provision of channel state information (CSI) on a multi-user (MU) MIMO-OFDM downlink are addressed. Reference symbols (pilots) support coherent detection at the receiver and enable link adaptation at the transmitter, but add overhead and consume transmit power.

Blind Pilot Decontamination With Hierarchical Design
IEEE Communications Letters, 2019In massive multiple input multiple output systems, the nonlinear channel estimation method has been initially proved to completely eliminate pilot contamination, which is based on spectrum separation theory to remove interference through projecting it onto the subspace of the desired signal. However, in view of the existing system parameters design for

Coordinated Pilot Design for Massive MIMO
ICASSP 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2019Pilot contamination is a main limiting factor in multi-cell massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems due to the non-orthogonality of pilot sequences which can seriously impair the channel measurement. Recent work has suggested coordinating pilot sequence design across multiple cells by choosing the sequences to minimize the channel ...

Optimal pilot interval design for the dedicated pilot channel
2003 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications Computers and Signal Processing (PACRIM 2003) (Cat. No.03CH37490), 2004Channel estimation plays a critical role in wireless communication systems where it is necessary to acquire channel state to compensate the received user data. For dedicated pilot channel, the known pilot symbols are usually time multiplexed with the user data symbols.

Pilot Design for MIMO-OFDM with Beamforming
2007Reference symbols (pilots) support coherent detection, but add overhead and consume transmit power. A sophisticated pilot design needs to trade-off the attainable channel estimation accuracy with the induced losses in bandwidth & power efficiency. MIMO transmission, transmit beamforming, and spatial multiplexing further complicate pilot design. In this

An electronic navigational aid for pilots-designed by pilots
Oceans '97. MTS/IEEE Conference Proceedings, 1997Summary form only given, substantially as follows. There have been significant advances in wireless communications as well as increased utilization of the Global Positioning System (GPS) for commercial navigation systems. A major component in maritime applications of these technologies is a portable shipboard system that provides more that own-ship ...

An uplink pilot design for IEEE802.16m
2011 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Communication Software and Networks, 2011This paper provides some design considerations of pilot structure for 1-antenna and 2-antenna IEEE802.16m. Space-Zone (SP-Zone) and Mobility-Zone (MB-Zone) concepts are introduced to use different numbers of subcarriers and symbols between pilots according to the radio environment and mobile speed to improve the system performance comparing with the ...

Structuring and Piloting the Design Process
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2000Abstract A project is a structure which evolves from an initial need to activities carried out by resources and reaching the project targets. The PDPM (Product Design Process Management) method and tool help the project structuring, by sharing the process into targets and activities, which are decomposed, assigned with resources, and planned.
