Isolation and characterization of microsatellite loci in Pimelodus maculatus (Siluriformes: Pimelodidae)

Molecular Ecology Resources, 2008
AbstractTo evaluate genetic variability in Pimelodus maculatus, a small migratory catfish common in South America, we isolated and characterized several microsatellite markers from individuals collected from a population in the River Grande (Brazil). A total of 11 loci were obtained and analyzed.

Analyses of Nucleolus Organizer Regions and Heterochromatin of Pimelodus Maculatus (Pisces, Pimelodidae)

Genetica, 2000
Eighteen specimens of Pimelodus maculatus collected from Tibagi River (Sertaneja, PR, Brazil) were analyzed cytogenetically. The diploid number of 56 chromosomes was observed and karyotype was 20 M + 20 SM + 10 ST + 6 A with fundamental number (FN) of 106.

Ecology of Pimelodus maculatus (Siluriformes) in the Corumb Reservoir, Brazil

2002
The distribution, abundance and reproduction of the mandi , Pimelodus maculatus, were studied in different environments of the Corumb Reservoir and its main tributaries in Goi s State, Brazil. Samplings were carried out monthly from March 1998 to February 1999, using gillnets and longlines.

Tubulated bodies in teleost (Pimelodus maculatus) endothelial cells.

Archives d'anatomie microscopique et de morphologie experimentale, 1983
In the present report tubulated granules are described for the first time in a freshwater teleost (Pimelodus maculatus) endothelial cells. Some ultrastructural characteristics as well as the localization and distribution suggest that tubulated bodies represent the teleost counterpart of the Weibel-Palade bodies described in other animal classes.

Electron microscopic study of teleost (Pimelodus maculatus) pancreatic islet cells.

Gegenbaurs morphologisches Jahrbuch, 1984
The endocrine pancreas of the freshwater teleost Pimelodus maculatus was studied by electron microscopy. Based on the granule morphology 2 cell types were described: Secretory granules of type I cells are rounded, nearly completely filling the limiting membranous sac which measures from 120 to 150 nm in diameter; the type II granules are also rounded ...

Ontogenetic Diet Shifts of a Neotropical Catfish, Pimelodus maculatus (Siluriformes, Pimelodidae): An Ecomorphological Approach

Environmental Biology of Fishes, 2003
This study analyses the ontogenetic diet shifts of a Neotropical catfish, Pimelodus maculatus (Siluriformes, Pimelodidae), from an ecomorphological standpoint. We collected 241 individuals in the Piracicaba River (Brazil) and, in the laboratory, seven morphometric variables were recorded from each specimen: standard length (SL), body depth, head length,
