Pine Wilt Disease And The Pinewood Nematode, Bursaphelenchus Xylophilus

2009
Pine wilt disease (PWD) is one of the most damaging events affecting conifer forests (in particular Pinus spp.), in the Far East (Japan, China and Korea), North America (USA and Canada) and, more recently, in the European Union (Portugal). In Japan it became catastrophic, damaging native pine species (Pinus thunbergii and P.

Some insect associates of the pinewood nematode in eastern Virginia

Canadian Journal of Forest Research, 1984
"Dauerlarvae" of the pinewood nematode Bursaphelenchusxylophilus (Steiner and Buhrer) were extracted from captured insects that emerged from caged wood of Pinusthunbergii Parl., Pinussylvestris L., and Piceaglauca (Moench) Voss. Monochamustitilator F. carrying B. xylophilus emerged from all three tree species. Neocanthocinusobsoletus Oliv. carrying B.

Application of RNA Interference in the Pinewood Nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus.

Journal of visualized experiments : JoVE, 2022
The pinewood nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, is one of the most destructive invasive species worldwide, causing the wilting and eventual death of pine trees. Despite the recognition of their economic and environmental significance, it has thus far been impossible to study the detailed gene functions of plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs) using ...

Survey of nematodes associated with pinewood in southern Italy and Lebanon.

2018
The pinewood nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, is the causal agent of the devastating "pine wilt disease" (PWD). It is a quarantine pest originating from North America, and a major invasive pine pest in Eurasia. In Italy and Lebanon, it has never been detected so far, even if its vector Monochamus sp. is present in both countries.
