Asymmetry in Skipping Enhances Viability Against Control Input Noise

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Quadruped animals use asymmetric galloping gaits at high speeds, yet the functional role of this asymmetry remains unclear. This study shows that left–right asymmetry in touchdown angles enhances robustness to control noise. Using a simple two‐legged locomotion model and viability theory, it demonstrates that asymmetric skipping substantially enlarges ...

Effect of Self-Threading Pins

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1972
The effect of self-threading pins on intracoronal tooth structure was studied with a scanning electron microscope using a replica technique to avoid specimen preparation artifacts. In the duplicate specimen no crazing was found, whereas the original specimen showed miniature cracks, caused by the high vacuum condition under which the specimen was ...

Pin potential effect on vortex pinning in YBa2Cu3O7-δ films containing nanorods: Pin size effect and mixed pinning

Applied Physics Letters, 2017
The pin size effect and mixed pinning of nanorods and matrix defects are discussed for YBa2Cu3O7-δ films containing nanorods. BaSnO3 nanorods with a diameter of 11 nm and BaHfO3 nanorods with a diameter of 7 nm were prepared, and critical current density (Jc) and resistivity were measured in the films.
