Effect of Self-Threading Pins

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1972
The effect of self-threading pins on intracoronal tooth structure was studied with a scanning electron microscope using a replica technique to avoid specimen preparation artifacts. In the duplicate specimen no crazing was found, whereas the original specimen showed miniature cracks, caused by the high vacuum condition under which the specimen was ...

Pin potential effect on vortex pinning in YBa2Cu3O7-δ films containing nanorods: Pin size effect and mixed pinning

Applied Physics Letters, 2017
The pin size effect and mixed pinning of nanorods and matrix defects are discussed for YBa2Cu3O7-δ films containing nanorods. BaSnO3 nanorods with a diameter of 11 nm and BaHfO3 nanorods with a diameter of 7 nm were prepared, and critical current density (Jc) and resistivity were measured in the films.

The effect of pin location on the rigidity of the halo pin-bone interface

Neurosurgery, 1990
Abstract Optimal insertion of halo fixation pins to maximize the rigidity of the interface between the halo pins and the outer table of the skull is important in reducing the incidence of pin loosening. An in vitro biomechanical study was performed using cadaver skulls to investigate the effects of pin location on the rigidity of this ...

Pin Clearance Effect on Pinned Connection Strength

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1986
Reduction of the ultimate strength of pinned connections as a result of large clearance between the pin and the hole is discussed. Test data are used to develop curves quantifying this reduction for the two primary modes of failure for pin plates. General suggestions are made for the design of pinned connections in which the pin-to-hole clearance may ...

Parapulpal pins and their effects on the fracture resistance of pin‐retained cores

Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 1991
SummaryThe bending characteristics of various parapulpal pins, the retention of a parapulpal pin in different core buildup materials, and the fracture resistance of pin‐retained cores were investigated in an in‐vitro study. In amalgam and composite cores, the use of parapulpal pins produced an increase in fracture resistance.

Effect of Fixation Pin Insertion on the Bone‐Pin Interface

Veterinary Surgery, 1986
Smooth and partially threaded 3.12 mm (1/8 inch) trochar‐tipped Steinmann pins were inserted transversely through both diaphyseal cortices of eight mature canine tibias using five methods. Angular velocity (revolutions per minute) during insertion and temperature elevation due to friction during penetration of the second cortex were recorded. The force

Collective pinning and the Hall effect in superconductors

Physical Review B, 1995
We calculate the mixed-state longitudinal and Hall resistivity of superconductors based on the perturbation approach of Schmid and Larkin with a frictional force of the form proposed by Vinen and Warren under the influence of randomly distributed weak point pinning centers.
