Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, 1998In this paper, the variability of six Pinus brutia var. brutia populations was analyzed in relation to their needle flavonoid composition. In all trees, two proanthocyanidins: prodelphinidin and procyanidin, and six flavonols: myricetin, quercetin, larycitrin, kaempferol, isorhamnetin and syringetin were detected and measured by HPLC.

Calabrian Pine (Pinus brutia Tenore)
1989Calabrian pine (Pinus brutia Tenore) is native to the Mediterranean Basin, where, along with the Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis Mill.), it constitutes large forests. However, Pinus brutia has a more restricted range and a more easterly distribution than Pinus halepensis (Dallmore and Jackson 1954; Davis 1965; MIrov 1967).

SEASONAL SECONDARY GROWTH IN NEEDLE LEAVES OF PINUS STROBUS AND PINUS BRUTIA
American Journal of Botany, 1987Mature needles and elongating current year's needles of Pinus strobus growing in Massachusetts and P. brutia growing in Israel were collected monthly or bimonthly for seasonal analysis of leaf cambial activity. Mature needles produced secondary phloem but no xylem, and, regardless of the season, had a cambial zone from 2 to 3 cell layers wide.
